We did win the National Championship right?

This past month has been surreal, it fell well below any expectation I could have had for it. Maybe I'm the only one, it wouldn't be the first time, but it sure doesn't feel like we just won #13. All the talk on the radio is of Auburn recruiting, Spencer Region, the New Orleans Saints, etc. . .

Auburn is winning right now. They've successfully distracted us from what we accomplished just 1 month ago. We can't let it continue. We've got to figure out a way to reverse the trend.

A UT fan I work with today made the comment "You know, you guys winning the National Championship hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I thought that's all I'd hear for the next 10 years, and I barely hear anyone mention it anymore. All anyone talks about is Auburn." That comment kinda got under my skin. I don't think he meant it in a bad way, but when an outsider see's the situation that way, it really strikes a chord.
It must be in the state of Alabama, I don't hear much about Auburn over here in Georgia.

One thing for sure, the Bham and Alabama media want to keep the Bama/AU contention going - it's their primary source for ratings.

Recruiting is always an attention getter, every year, regardless of the BCS winner.

The NFL is about the only sporting entity in the US that trumps college football and it has been in the lime light since 1/7. It's that way every year.

To be fair, how long can you keep talking about the same issue on a radio talk show ? When various issues are brought up, Bama callers can refer to it again, but as the substance of a radio program or news articles how much more can be said ?

This is to be expected. After all, Alabama winning national championships is situation normal for college football. Yes, we have been through a slump, but our return to the top will never produce the type of extended hype that an underdog team from out of nowhere would.

Bama is back on top. That really isn't news. It is the way things are meant to be. Like the sun rising in the East - it just represents the natural order of things...

I'm still waiting to celebrate actually. My friend has been in China since a couple of days before the NCG, so when he finally gets back then I will finally be able to go out and celebrate and discuss the game with him.

Speak for yourself, chief. This month has been awesome. And it does feel like we've won all the marbles. Whos talking about Auburn after national signing day? No one. And as for your UT friend, you need to do a better job of letting him know who won the title. That falls on you. I'm pretty sure this thread is already linked on all the aubie boards. Congrats, on that.

I'm willing to let the Barners and the Viles be offseaon optimists, ask Cubs fans how much fun that is. Just remember their "expectations" this fall, while we sing Rammer Jammer! :BigA:
.

No such thing as an "optimistic Cubs fan" and I should know.

Let Auburn win the offseasoni. Let them claim victory over prospects that may or may not play for Auburn, much less become great players. All we have to do is show them what a national championship trophy look. Like them continue to have their "moral victories", I take the actual victories.

That's the truth.

I tried to explain to a coonass that things have been abnormal since the 90s and now Bama is back in our rightful spot and they (lswho) should get used to maybe winning at the most a SEC title every 10 years or so.

Of course, most of them aren't that bright, and the Aints have accidentally won, so he just said "who dat?". As if the whole world cared.

Hey RS, I say just let the Barners crow. They're delusional anyway, and will crow at the slightest thing if they even think they got the best of Bama. This is a fan base that throws toilet paper up in a tree, remember? We, as Bama fans, have a lot more to brag about than them, but we just know how to act like "we've been there before", so we don't go around crowing like "banty" roosters about every little detail. As far as SR is concerned...phhhht! It was made a big deal only because it was a shock. Saban wouldn't let him dictate the terms for his recruitment, so now he's stuck with AU, and we have a whole years to find somebody better and more dedicated to Bama.

AU got a decent recruiting class this year, but it's the first in a while, and very possibly the last in a while too. We've had two #1's and a top five, and can expect that every year. If AU thinks they've caught us, that's just more of their delusions rearing up.

I think you listen to too many fans of other teams too much. But the next time you are at the mall or Walmart or some public place with your Bama gear on, and you meet someone you don't know that's wearing AU or UF gear, watch their eyes drop when they see you, or notice the way they look away. A little pride swells up in me when that happens without a word being said. They know who's the boss without the "up in your face" bragging. I love being a TideFan. End of rant.

I want Auburn & Tennessee to celebrate their minor victories right up until
kick-off. I hope they convince the media that they should be ranked and are world beaters...
I'm willing to take it out on them on the field. :BigA:

How true.

It's also worth noting that the media is always moving on to the today's big bandwagon because that's what will be selling tomorrow's toothpaste and car tires.

Go buy a new flag or decal. Display it proudly, and smile that smirky little smile when the wannabe's notice it.

It's obvious to me that some of you didn't read past the thread title. I know in my corner of Alabama that Chizik has stolen some headlines, and AU has gotten a ton of pub on the radio, and in print, and frankly, I don't feel we've gotten due credit for what we accomplished this past season.

AU and Chiz were buried on the back page of our Sports page for nearly a year. We won the National Title one month ago, and suddenly I see his name all over our papers, and Auburn actually has articles on the front page of the sports section now. I don't really hear much banter about our recent title. Sorry, but that's just what Ive experienced.

My OP apparently struck a chord, and I apologize if it came off the wrong way. More than anything, I guess I'm just disappointed about the publicity we've gotten. As someone said earlier, it's not simply an Alabama bias, it's a bigger problem. The media is always focused on what's next. It was less than 24 hours before I saw the first pre-season top 25 poll for the 2010 season. Absurdity at it's finest.

As far as some of you questioning where my loyalties lie, what gives? The fact that I expected more talk, more coverage, and more fanfare over our championship makes you question who I pull for? Really? Some of you (not all of you) may need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills, or at the very least, read beyond the thread title. . .

You may need to drive down to Mobile to feel better. I had to go there for work last week and it was the first time I have been back to Alabama since we won the title. It was also my opportunity to get my National Championship gear and I have to say that there were loads of people still buying all kinds of stuff. I was kinda shocked since it's been over a month.

Also, don't feel bad, the only topic being discussed in Texas is basketball.

In regards to Keenan Allen. Why the disappointment?

Does any Bama fan really want a premadonna who thinks he's bigger than an entire program by making demands that his brother also receive a scholarship?

I'm not unhappy at all that he didn't sign. I'm glad he didn't.

Coach Saban basically told him where to put his demands. That's something to be happy about . We actually have a coach who has character.

The other recruits that we didn't get? Whoopidity dooo.

How will we ever survive? We only had a recruiting class rated 3-5 nationally and addressed every need on the team.

As far as "Am I Happy"? Do I feel like we won the National Championship?

Uh......YEAHHHHHH!

Right now there's only one National Champ, and it's Bama!

I'm not going to fret about things that I have no control over and Nick Saban does.

I'm just going to sit back, enjoy the moment, and leave Bama football in his hands.

He seems to have the situation under control.

sip

Go back and watch highlight film of this year. I never realized how much we dominated other teams. We played hard. When we hit someone they knew it. When we intercepted a ball we ran it back with authority. Our backs ran with power. You will feel like a champ when you realize what Coach Saban has built. It is really a thing of beauty. Oh, and i dont give a damn what anyone else needs to do to make themselves feel good about being mediocre.
