Taking the numbers off the helmets would be terrible. White helmets. Maybe. But never take the numbers off.
The ONLY change we should make is to go back to the dull richer crimson of the old Russell jersies, i realize that there have been fabric 'innovations' since then, but i'm sure they could recreate the look of those old polyester jersies in new age fabric.GrantM62890 said:What are yall's opinions of some jersey changes for Bama? I personally would kinda like to see a script A on the helmet instead of the number, although the number on the helmet is kinda oldschool I guess. I also know that in '92 there was a Denny Chimes thing on the side of the jerseys...I think that looked kinda cool. I know we used to wear white helmet for away games. I didnt really like that look, but what do yall think about these ideas?:BigA:
I agree. The "New Constipated Elephant" logo was a case of someone creating a fix for a problem that didn't exist...Next to the "eye of the tiger" suppository that auburn plasters on everything, it's one of the worst logos in sports. Why? It's an awkward shape, it's busy and it's predominant colors are black and gray. Alabama is NOT black and gray, we are Crimson and white. Nothing about it is instantly recognizeable. I simply will not buy anything with it.tidefanblake said:i'm not a fan at all of the newest Tide logo as a matter of fact, and when i buy anything UA and i can find it available, i always go with the old block A Elephant logo. Roll Tide.

Could look like this...........pretty cool, for one game. I still think I like the crimson helmets better overall.

I think we just said the same thing. I had quoted the original posters comments that seemed surprised at the tone of the responses. Never have I been a proponent of uniform changes. Don't want that on my pernament record here on the Board!HuntsvilleTider said:No, this is what happens when someone posts asking for a uni change. The Bama Nation does not take kindly to posts asking for a change of the best uniforms in all of college football, bar none. Ask a silly question and you will get replys just as silly!
Not too state the obvious, but those 20s somethings become the 50 60 somethings that support the school when us current 30 40 somethings are gone.Tsunami said:NO CHANGES PLEASE! I'll bet that most of the people who favor changes are 30 and under.
I happen to like the 'New" logo and I think the cursive A looks just like the Atlanta Braves - this is just to let you know this is the Correct opinion - just ask Me.4DaTIDE said:I agree. I love the Old Elephant logo you mention, and really like the Cursive A and the Athletic seal that Alabama is going toward now. It's everything that the "new" elepahnt (who's been around ten unfortunate years almost) isn't: Classic, Simple, INSTANTLY recognizeable as representing Alabama, classy and understated, like the University. I'm glad to see that the powers that be are getting away from the constipated elephant, too.
Hopefully it'll be a soon forgotten relic of the DuBose Error.
Just my (correct) opinion,

Oh, and the uniforms need no changes whatsoever. They're perfect just like they are and have been essentially in the modern era. I mean, would Coca-Cola change the shape of the bottle? Would Chevrolet dump the bowtie? No.
I don't see too many glass bottles anymore, but they still exist. Most of the bottles are plastic, but have the same distinctive shape. Even more important than the bottle, Coca-cola changed the formula in the 1980s. There was such an uproar that they quickly switched back. This is the formula change that most people who were around then remember. Not many people seem to mind that they use corn syrup now instead of cane sugar, because it's cheaper. This is surprising because Coke sweetened with corn syrup tastes a lot different than Coke sweetened with cane sugar. It tastes sweeter and cleaner with sugar, while corn syrup makes it taste thicker and stickier, leaving a filmy coating on the tongue. You can still get the cane sugar Coke in Mexico, and from some American markets that import Mexican Coke.4DaTIDE said:I mean, would Coca-Cola change the shape of the bottle? What he said....notice before each game in the video Tide Tradition...it says "Our tradition is built on...". Then notice that nowhere in that video does it say "jerseys that never change"NOSty said:I'm going to state the obvious...it isn't the uniform that makes the team, it's the players.
I thought bama's tradition was heart, desire, dedication, victory, tenacious, etc, not "uniforms stay the same".![]()

4DaTIDE said:Fortunately for the rest of us, the University disagrees with you, as do the majority of consumers: The "A" logo is outselling and replacing 'ol Constipated elephant on darn near everything.
