Apparently, CNS met with Gary Joseph, the Katy Tigers Head Coach and Aundre Dean, earlier this week. Dean is either a UCLA commit or lean, but with the recent firing, he may not go.

Here's some info on him.

I'll try and find the article in the Houston Chronicle that mentioned them meeting.

Katy is a perennial state finalist in 5A football in TX, btw. They are a machine like South Lake Carroll.

His running style reminds me a lot of our current RB commit Ivan Matchett. Very tough, physical runner with excellent balance and good speed. He might have a bit more breakaway speed than Matchett but they're very similar IMHO. He'd be a very good pickup.

I'd personally love to Bama recruit Katy a little bit harder...like I said, they are perennial state contenders and have some talented athletes. But, hey, I'm only a lone voice in Katy and I'm biased.

Dean and the Tigers are taking Clements HS to the woodshed. 21-0 at the end of the 1st qtr. David Carr, former Texans #1 draft pick, his little brother is the QB of Clements. Sucks for him.

There's a blog on the Chronicle website that you can track the progress of Dean and the Tigers...I'd jump at this kid in a heartbeat....we NEED him. He's a big, strong back. He'll deliver.

Now 28-0....geez. He has 85 all purpose yards (73 on the ground) in just over a quarter. Ouch!

A very impressive player. I'd LOVE to have him. I was impressed by the fact that he's not just one of these pretty boy speed guys that's afraid of contact. This guy seems to LIKE the contact. I like that a lot.

He reminds me of James Morisette who played at Fairhope in 86...I'm dating myself, but I watched him roll over Shaw in the first round of the playoffs...and he sought out contact.

Well, Dean ended up with 185 rushing yards in three quarters. They pulled him and the rest of the starting O, after taking a 42-0 lead in the third quarter. Katy won 42-0, btw. They advance to the semis in state. San Antonio next Saturday! Go Tigers.

Thats illegal in a lot of places.:p

Dean seems to fit the style of a BAMA running back. Big, strong, great vision and fast. He looks like he enjoys contact as much as leaving people in the dust.

I really see something in this guy. I hope he brings that Texas hearbeat to BAMA with him!

Trivia time: Who was the last player Alabama had from Katy, Texas?
