Re: Kicking

I agree, honestly dont think its to much to ask for a scholarship kicker to at least develop a little as a kicker in 2 years, I can't help but feel our special teams coaching needs to be re-evaluated, but thats just my opinion before people jump on me for having one.
You most certainly have the right to have an opinion, Poke.

And to express it.

Though I'm still a newb on this board, you have been most welcoming to me - and others - and your posts are informative, and appreciated.

My question about our kickers would be this. Normally kickers walk on and that being the case, I have to believe that some other guys have walked on that could do as good or better than what they did Saturday night. There was another guy that was walking on named Christian Kauffman from Memphis. I wonder if he just did not pan out. I hate to say it and hate it for the guy, but I would probably not renew Fosters' scholly for next year unless with his size he could play LB or something else. He clearly does not have what it takes as a kicker.

Re: Kicking

Well, with all due respect, their best didn't get it done. When your job's to go out and make a 53-yard field goal, you better do it. No other way to sugarcoat it. Our special teams didn't execute and it cost us the game. Say all you want about play calling and penalties, but you have to execute to win. And we didn't, especially in the kicking game.
a 53 yard field goal is not an easy thing. They practice hard, but anything over 50 yards is not 'automatic'.

I do think that after the 1st miss, the coaches should have either: A) Punted to play field position, or B) gone for it on 4th down.
...thats what you do when your in the dead zone (too long for a realistic FG, too short for a punt to net good yardage)
