You guys feel like ESPN jumps all over Bama anytime they get a chance?

That is definitely feeling we have about UT and ESPN. It has been like that since Woodson robbed the Heisman from Manning :)

I still think Manning should have won!...irrelevant this many years later :)
I agree that Manning should have won. We all know the best qualified person doesn't always win the Heisman.
Gotta give you respect for hanging in there with your team. I don't think I could keep my cool if I tried it on a Vol board.
With respect to Kiffin, I don't get it. It just seems he would have learned by now that all that mouthing can come back to haunt him. Perhaps it is just a lack of maturity, who knows. The SEC is simply too competitive to give your opposition any material for posting in the locker rooms. Spurrier is the only coach that could pull that off, but even he has softened his rhetoric since he has departed the talent rich state of Florida. Kiffin has surrounded himself with several weathered assistants, all capable of pulling him aside and suggest he stop walking on his tongue. It must be difficult to tell the boss what you really think.
Hang in there VolFan1. I'm confident there will be more surprises from your coach as the season progresses.

You're right about Manning, and years don't make anything irrelevant in the SEC...

Don't worry about Kiffster, VolFan1. You can endure two years of anyone, even if it is painful at times. It usually takes a few tries to get a good one anyhow, but who knows? Maybe the next cast will land a better fish...

everyone knows it happens but i thought this was one of those unspoken dark side of the game things.
It is, but Kiffin was so busy trying to come up with excuses he blurts out the first thing that pops into his head. He's already broken most of the unspoken rules among coaches and the media, this is just one more.

What are you guys upset about? This is what Kiffin wants right? I mean, he is the one who said he wanted all the attention, to see the "T" and the "UT Colors" on TV and in the media.

I didn't even realize it was 'dark side' anymore. All the time you hear "so and so went to locker room to take an IV", "so and so went to the back to get stitches"....hell, they use smelling salts to help people get over being knocked silly. Why is a cortisone shot so taboo?

Its not for those of us who either participated in sports or know what goes on in sports. Its just getting a shot so you can play.

At the same time who didn't know they shot horses when they break their leg racing? You would have thought it was a secret with all the outrage a couple years ago when it was brought to light in one of the triple crown races.

It's just not race horses they shoot. Any horse with a broken leg gets shot since it's a death sentence and not a pretty one...

screwed man...soooo tooootally screwed....

seriously though...it all depends on how much and how often they shoot a player up....with steroids or heroin or...i mean, not heroin...nobody in sports does that. That'd be counter productive...too much weight loss and other health problems. Still, Kiffin can shoot up all his players to help them play through the pain....they are still tooootally screwed.

I don't see Kiffin in the wrong here either. The i-prez is the one that made this public. That should have been private, IMO.

The i-prez also made it known that he thinks UCLA is a superior academic university to TN....yet he was the one saying Kiffin needed to consider the reputation of the university.

For the record...I have no idea which one is better academically
volfan, I have to say i was shocked by reading those comments from the acting UT Pres. as well. To me, it sounds like he has as much of a "mouth diarrhea" problem as does Kiffin....like the pot calling the kettle black. I assure you that UCLA is a fine institution, but so is UT... Even if UCLA is "better than" UT, you don't go mouthing crap like that as a University President...

This type of sentiment will ultimately be part of the demise of Lame Kitten. He is treating the whole situation at UT like he is in the pros. Rhetoric, attitued, lies and all. It is a buisness, however; it is a much different buisness than the pros. It will all catch up to him and it will be a cloudy day and time in Knoxville.

too much cortisone can be detrimental to the joint. it can also mask pain leading to worse long term damage (doesn't always, but can)
