I'll send him an email tonight encouraging him to "not take that stuff lying down and speak up for himself." Maybe he'll do it if encouraged by enough "fans". lol :p

If there's anyone who can bait CLK into opening his mouth to say something stupid, I'd say it would be Spurrier.

Who does UT play next?

The line for getting jobbed by the officials at the SEC commissioner's office is long this year. You better be right about how the rules were improperly applied when it's your turn.

"I kicked it early because I was afraid I'd get another questionable flag for the home team" not really something you can point to on video and say "see, right there"... and be right about it. Coach Kiffy doesn't appear to begin to approach having anything that resembles a legitimate case for review of anything.

So the Commissioner of the league had an easy call on the reprimand.

I asked about this yesterday but didn't see it answered so I looked up the stats on the penalties. He gripes that the refs were against him. Really? The 8 penalties for 68 yds isn't exactly incriminating evidence there Lane.

There were 3 false start penalties, 1 delay of game. Those right there are easy and obvious calls. You had 1 holding call, 1 pass interference, a 15 yarder when one of his defenders on a Javy punt return threw his body into two of our blockers. An obvious roughing the kicker that no one argues. This is your proof that the refs were calling against you? I love his reference to the fact that they're in Tuscaloosa and we're not going to get anything called on us. I guess he forgot to watch the S. Carolina highlights or look at the stat sheet and see that we had 10 penalties for 113 yards on us. Nope never anything called on us in Tuscaloosa.

Man talk about latching on to anything that will get over the fact that you lost. Just let it go and stop crying about it Lane. I wanted to give you some kudos for a hard fought game but you just keep making it harder when you can't take a defeat with any sort of class at all.

I think this public statement.......is exactly why he is in major trouble. I'm sure Slive has had enough of this attitude. If he opens that mouth again and talks back to the SEC and what they do, the SEC will take action. I would like to know is what exactly the SEC has the power to do, can they take away TV coverage???? He would really throw a temper tantrum if they can actually pull his TV rights.

Does any1 have a link to the SEC rules and sanctions that can be imposed by the SEC if said rules are broken?? I have been searching to no avail and I am getting a little frustrated....

Kiffen is one of those guys who is always whining about what everyone else is going and calling them out to take the focus off his own weaknesses. He carry on with this for a while and he cant succeed because "everyone was out to get him" or "he never had a chance to succeed".

And you know what he would be right.

Kiffin is a petulent teenager. I cannot believe he blamed the refs for his screw up at the end of the game. Talk about deflection. It's classic teenager behavior. He may be a great coach, but until he gets over that he'll always have mediocre teams. Why? Because his players will eventually begin to mirror his little attitude.

I didn't realize he also added this gem until I read it on SI's site...

Kiffin also said he decided to let the clock run down instead of trying to run another play before the kick because he was concerned about the officiating.

"You run another play and you throw an interception or they throw another flag on us -- I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there and some magical flag appear," Kiffin said.

The SEC Commisioner threatened suspension. What could they actually suspend? Could they suspend him from coaching for a few games? Somebody?????
They can suspend him for games, or off-campus recruiting visits, or any number of things (including appearances, etc.).

Word is the last time he was reprimanded, back in the spring, he basically was made to eat his hat while sitting in Slive's office, so I can't imagine how badly Slive made him cry this time.

What I can't believe is that there are actually Tennessee fans out there defending his behavior. Doing so is the height of being intellectually dishonest about one's program and is truly we'll-forgive-anything-as-long-as-we-win behavior.

CLK needs to put on his big boy britches. He's getting paid the big bucks to be UT's head coach, not a crazed fan looking for excuses. All this CYA BS is embarrassing to the players and sane UT fans alike. The head coach is ultimately responsible and should know his personnel and their limitations. Instead of looking for excuses, perhaps he should look for somebody that can block TC. If the same guy comes from the same place to block two kicks, somebody's not getting the job done. If your kicker has to kick it low to get it there and has already missed one short and had another one blocked, it's the head coach's job to take all that into consideration and make a decision accordingly. He decided, and he chose wrong. It's long past time for him to "man-up".
