He ain't wrong.
Sankey agreeing to kneecap his own conference is a breathtaking lack of leadership.
It's just math... half the teams are taking another L. The committee doesn't care about SoS.

Moving to 9 games before the SEC got some sort of a true change to the ranking system (like basketball) to include SoS in a meaningful way was a horrible idea. According to Sagarin this was Alabama's 9th game against a top 30 team!

Going into this weekend, Ohio State, Indiana and Texas Tech had 9 combined!

Caleb Downs said last week -

”That was something when I was at Alabama, every week, like we’ve got Tennessee this week, LSUnext week, then we’ve got Auburn. You’re playing dudes every week. That’s something you prepare your body for, prepare your mind for,” Downs said. “In the Big Ten, you’re going to have 4 or 5 games maybe where you’re going to have to play high-level competition and be at your highest point. That’s the difference.
Now take a look at the injury report, there are four on that list that were expected to contribute along the Dline. Two most experienced running backs are on the list . How great would that have been picking up blitzes for a beleaguered OLine. And we want to add another game? The SEC Will never win another national championship. Either that, or we will see teams get to 9-0 or 9-1 and rest players the last game or two. Imagine going into the iron bowl and sit half of your starters?

What the Big 10 did by adding Rutgers and Maryland was an incredibly cynical and smart move. No one talks about those teams when they talk about expansion, they just kind of overlook them, but it set the Big 10 up to be in the position they are now. Every year each Big 10 team gets a free win because of that. It makes all their football powers look better.

The only way the SEC can "fix" this might be to add Virginia and North Carolina, effectively making it so the 9th SEC game for each SEC team is one of those. Even then, still better football programs than Rutgers and Maryland..

Don't you think Sankey does that on purpose making our schedule very hard

Sankey should lose his job over this.

It’s time for the SEC and Big 10 to split from the NCAA and form the so-called super conference. It’s the only way to end this insane unlimited free agency that the NIL and transfer portal has enabled. The NCAA clearly has no interest in fixing this problem.

Anyway, this uneasy alliance can also fix some of the issues being discussed in this thread. If the super conference becomes a thing, we can share the wealth (and the easy wins) among all members. Otherwise, we will continue to cannibalize ourselves down here in the South.

EDIT: it would also force those clowns in South Bend to finally join a conference.

Honest question why would the Big 10 want to bolt and form a super conference? They already have one of the easiest routes to the playoff. If anything, it’s Sankey and the SEC who just did everyone else a favor by agreeing to a nine game conference schedule.

and don't forget about doubling down on the derp by also requiring at least one Power nonconference game.

Kirby makes a very good point....a 9th game is self inflicted harm for the SEC and Sankey should be fired for bowing to the pressure to add one. Hopefully, sense prevails and its taken back...but logic hasn't been seen in the SEC office for a long time
