OJ was a special case. There's little doubt he did it, but he had a talented defense team that spun up a far-fetched conspiracy theory, a judge that didn't really play it even-handedly and a jury that, after the fact, had people in it that effectively nullified a solid case in spite of being certain of his guilt to "get back at the LAPD" (admitted in interviews after the fact). One of them was a known Black Panther that the prosecution inexplicably didn't strike in voir dire, and gave Simpson a raised fist salute on his way out of the courtroom upon his acquittal. Remember that this was on the heels of several bad acquittals that favored the LAPD, including Rodney King.

Plus the defense wasn't entirely wrong about how bad the LAPD was at that time. They caught one of them lying under oath about his prior use of the n-word, and effectively trapped another on a 5th amendment defense. His counsel, Cochran in particular, was very, very, good.
Marcia Clark and Darden were morons too.

Do people actually think it’s open season or justified to shoot someone because they have a criminal record?
It is justified to shoot someone who initiates an assault on you, threatening you with grievous harm.

The character assassination is to create emotional justification for ending them. The legal and rational justification is apparently insufficient for some people.

I think based on the evidence the jury got it right in applying the law as instructed. The prosecution did a poor job too.

But here's the thing, while he may be innocent, his mother ought to be guilty of some sort of a felony for allowing her minor son to possess a firearm and transport him said firearm across state lines.

I didnt say it wasnt illegal. But it should be. That is the deficiency in their law put on full display. There are other instances in law where the negligence of the child is attributed to the parent.

That's an excellent article, Ms Smith's answers were very good.

Thank you for posting it.
I disagree. That article was all about calling for more guns, for the left to arm themselves like the right. More guns is not the answer unless you want protests to turn into a bloodbath.

Just another gun advocate saying if we'd all just learn more about guns, take a class, everything would be a okay. Which is just complete hogwash.

Because the answer to ending violence is more violence. That's all you'll get if everyone arms themselves.
