Yep, I think it’s time to move on. A question. Is it solely the decision of the player, in this case Milroe, as to whether or not he comes back ? If the head coach feels that it’s not in the best interest of the team, can he say, “ Thanks but no thanks. “ ?
What I've been told is CKD WILL INSTALL his full offense next season and that is the expectation of those returning and those coming in from the reruiting class. He's not putting a QB behind center who can't run it. Take that for what it implies.

I definitely do believe that. For context behind this:

CKD spoke on that before season started about installing offense:

Alabama football's Kalen DeBoer: much of offense won't be installed

The reason? The offense must suit the personnel he inherited.

"There's going to be a lot of our offense that we never install this year, just because of the players that we have," DeBoer said Wednesday on the SEC's weekly media teleconference. "There's going to be other elements of the system that we haven't used much the past few years, that we'll go draw upon."
Key word personnel... and Read what Bamabuzzard said about QB. Connect the dots.

I've heard it's 5-6 players. There are folks who know for sure and I have seen a list but don't recall all the names. JM and Booker were the headliners who really caught the attention.
I’ve seen it too but not gonna name names.

It’s a few OL, a RB, and a couple guys on D

coaches can 100% tell a player they should move on. I guess a player could ignore that and stay. In the old world a coach used to be able to pull a scholarship and give it to someone else. Not sure if that's still a thing or not.

I was under the impression that scholarships were for one year only. If they don't want someone they can just tell them we don't have a spot for you. Is this not the case?

The only thing that makes me unsure if Simpson is the guy is that some of our coaches have been following WSU’s quarterback. Could be nothing but it could be a signal that they are trying to get him down here for the spring. I expect us to atleast consider a transfer quarterback

If Milroe comes back in any capacity it might set the program back 10 years. I think it’s understood at this point that his last game at BDS is Saturday.
Agreed, ready to move on. Hopefully we see Milroe participate in Senior Day on Saturday.

Scholarships are indeed for one year, subject to renewal each year. However, most coaches historically have been loathe to "cut" a player without the player's consent because they fear the blowback in the media/football world for cutting someone. What they would do is a have one-on-one meetings with underperforming players and "recommend" they find another place if they ever want to get on the field. Coach Saban did this every year. Without it we would not have been able to sign the full classes we did in his later years.

They're not going to cut Jalen Milroe but I'm pretty sure the coaches will have a talk with him after the season is over and recommend he find a new home, either in the NFL or some other roster.

There was a time during I think Saban’s first run of NCs where the college football world went into a collective tizzy about how horrible it was that players could be cut from one year to the next because scholarships were only guaranteed for one year. If I remember correctly, this was sparked by some guys transferring from or maybe grey shirting at Alabama. In reality it was other programs panicking about Bama’s success and manufacturing a “problem” that “ethical” programs would address by offering 4yr scholarships out of HS, to try to claw back a recruiting edge. At one point I believe the SEC made this a league rule. No idea if that is still the case though.

Ahh yes, the mythical “oversigning” of the SEC. It was never a real thing, and the stupid rule that artificially limited the SEC specifically was hogwash.

If he comes back, I frankly expect us to lose basically the entire WR, RB, and QB rooms. It would be a disaster of epic proportions that would set the program back years imo.
I dont expect him back, and I suspect CKD will encourage him to move on or tell him he isnt the starter...........after the season is done he cant hold anything over their heads
