if the pick didn't get him benched, the effort after it should have, is there a stipulation that he can't be benched for performance?

I've gone back and re-watched that "effort" a few times. He just completely dodges the tackle and tries to trip the guy. It looked like he either was scared of hitting the guy or wanted him to score.

I just hope the coaches know what to do (and not do) for that...

I'm not confident that Wommack and co. could defend it if they were given the playbook before the game.

The problem isn't NIL per se. The problem is that NIL funds are being controlled by a player, and since they are controlling the paycheck of the other players, those players have a loyalty to the controlling player that extends past abilities on the field.

I would love to see some tax returns on all of this come April 15th. How much money is being reported, and, how much is being hidden. I'm sure they don't want the IRS to start digging into all of this stuff.

With regard to the source of LANK funds, outside of my wife buying a shirt, I have never seen anything with the word on it except when it is one of the players involved. I find it difficult to think that there is much of a revenue stream from the merch.

It has to be like a money laundering scheme to be this lucrative. Collectives funnel donor money into it, and it is paid out to the LANK players whether merchandise was sold or not. It's the 2024 version of paying a nice salary to a player for checking that the automatic water sprinklers turned on, or paying them to wipe off the weighs after they got finished using them back in the 70's and 80's.
