Let's see... 2006.

I wasn't quite 40 yet.

I could see a book in front of my face without glasses.
I could sleep most of the night.
I didn't snap, crackle, and pop when I walked.
I could usually remember where I put my car keys.
I was actually offended when the bagger at Publix asked me, "Sir, can I carry these to your car for you?"

I wish I could remember less of the pre-2008 era and more about my car keys.

The Republicans owned both houses of Congress (it ended that year)
Texting was used but VERY rarely
MySpace was ahead of Facebook
The Miami Heat were world champions
Alabama was on probation
I was still in my mid-thirties
Osama Bin Laden still had nearly five years left
Twitter was brand new
Cory Lidle was killed in a plane crash
Red Auerbach died that month

Here's more on this trip down memory lane. The last time Tennessee beat Alabama, here's what was happening in the world:

  • Mark Foley, Republican from Florida, was a member of the United States Congress who sent sexually explicit emails to an underage page.
  • Duke University lacrosse team scandal took place when some members allegedly took advantage of a dancer/stripper.
  • Terrell Owens supposedly tried to kill himself by taking 35 painkillers.
  • Steve Irwin, TV's Crockodile Hunter, was killed by a freak stingray accident
  • Saddam Hussein was executed
  • Pluto was downgraded from a Planet to a dwarf planet by The International Astronomical Union ( IAU )
BOY... Those were some dark memories... (But... I remember em well)
Hate it about Pluto...

And they still are champions!

- My go to beer couzie for football games was a 1999 SEC Champion couzie.

Lotta things have changed since then!

I remember those days. I still have at least 3 #12 jerseys in my house. I also have a #15 jersey, but that was from Freddy Milons heyday. The number 15 is relevant again, but probably only until the end of this season. :D

I had to look that one up on the Heat. Shaq was with the Heat. Now he's selling Buicks to old folks. :) For that matter, he's old folks now.
I was still in my forties.
Nobody had ever heard of Fracking.
Brett Farve was still a Packer.
Texas was the reigning National Champs.
