it was immediately reported when he left the interview he wasn’t going to be the DC so I doubt any offer was made for him to turn down.
as for why anyone would want to come coach at LSU with Orgeron - we have a lot of talent coming back. If a coach can turn the defense around, he could jump to a HC job easily. Not many coaches are planning to come to LSU as a long term DC. Also, the pay is pretty good.

I hope LSU relishes that 2019 "Greatest Team Ever" NC trophy. Because it appears it may be a while for they touch another one.
