Next season the NCAA breaks out the new Richt Rule. No team will enter the playing field after a score. Could be the first 30 yard penalty on the books. The NCAA talking heads are already addresses this one. JMHO. :BigA:

that turned into a 22.5 yd penalty, maybe player ejections will get this whole scripted penalties thing under control!

If Coach Saban encouraged his players to do something like that I'd jump off the bandwagon quickly. That sort of thing is classless and if Bama wants to play the class card then that sort of thing can't be condoned, much less encouraged.
I say jump now, I don't want bandwagon fans here at Bama, Jump on the BC /Matt Ryan bandwagon

And how is Bama "classier"? What does that mean in today's college football world anyway?

While it may be viewed as classless- I understand why Richt did it. He wanted his team to make a statement they were in it to win, mentally and physically. He wanted to make a statement to FL that they were in fight to the end and win or lose it wasn't going to be an easy win. I don't think he was counting on the extra penalty on the lineman for dancing/taunting, but that is a risk when you decide to to do something like that. I think by doing it you run the risk of letting the players get too emotional and not holding in check. In the end, it worked out for GA.

His stunt made the official's job a lot more difficult in controlling the game. I can't believe how many folks here think that the results of the game justify this blatant disregard of the rules. How would you fell if they did this in BDS?

I think the SEC should fine CMR for encouraging his player to violate the rules.

Does it not strike anybody that this is THE SEC?
Our fans these days are(Players and coaches sometimes)either known as hostile or dare I say "classy"
Think about the Rammer Jammer.Think about us throwing beer and cups.
I don't see why everybody thinks that is classless.Compared to the Gators that was one of the more "Classier" things Mark Richt has done.
And don't forget he did have to deal with Florida at Florida State.
He set the tone for the game and I applaud him or it.
Good Job Mark Richt.

I like Richt but I would think this would back fire more than not.

It did get Meyers' goat. He was scrambling to see how to get himself and team back in the limelight.

Overall, his ploy worked to keep the Dawgs on attack all day.

Personally, I like Saban's approach by kicking an on sides kick.

What if the replay had reverse the TD call? Now GA would of had the ball on the 15 instead of the one foot line. How smart would his stunt look now?

You are an old fart. Too many are making this out to be more than it should be. It is just a game, I am sure if CNS would have done this and we would have won the game everyone would be singing his praises. Heck, I will run out on the field after a TD against the Barn if that means we are going to win.
bottom line is, a coach directed his entire team to violate a rule. that's bad coaching.

not to mention the fact that it could have ignited a bench-clearing brawl.

and you're dead wrong about everyone singing praises. if saban had pulled this kind of ghetto bush league stunt, i'd think he was a jerk.

Did it work? Sure, it might have worked but playing dirty can work to, it doesn't mean you should do it. It was without class and it set the tempo for a game full of personal fouls. Besides, as has been mentioned it could have easily turned into a fight. Do you want the other team's bench running out onto the field when you are there? There is a reason they have rules about things like that.

forgot to mention that i have to question a coach's ability to properly motivate his players against a rival if he has to resort to such goofy theatrics.

whatever happened to intense practices and inspirational pregame speeches?

you'd think getting your butt handed to you 10 of the last 13 years would be enough.
