I would have to say that from a fan view it seemed like we didn't come ready to play. Ole Miss played great D but also got away with a lot. We were not ready for a physical fight in the slightest.

Glad we got an ugly game out of the way early. We'll be alright.

The energy felt flat from the get go. That includes fan energy.

It was hard hat night. Looking at the stats scrolling on the board, it looks like OM beat us in pretty much all of the hard hat metrics. I haven't looked up the final stats today. I wanted to start today on a positive note. :)

I agree on the fan energy. Coleman didn't get into the game until roughly 7 minutes to go. Bama fans are known for this in Coleman unfortunately..

We shoot 10 more free throws; they shoot 23 more field goals; not the refs.
Not our night
I know some of you are sore about the officiating. Sure, they missed calls.

But that was just a pathetic game for the guys in Crimson. We started the game with 3 straight TOs, IIRC, and then within the first few minutes had 7. It's a wonder they didn't run away from us from the beginning, but they aren't very good offensively. And then, to add insult to injury, when we got off shots they were contested and we didn't make many.

I don't think the effort was bad, but our heads weren't in this game, and it showed. Stuff like this happens, but I would expect it a little deeper into the SEC grind, not game 4.

That was an ugly game to attend. I can't believe we got beat by a team that starts a white boy that wears a head band.
Dude, you made me laugh out loud with that. That's for the comedic relief!

I'm also disturbed that our 3 point shooting is so bad.

I guess that's why we didn't shoot more 3's last night, but it became clear they weren't going to allow us to get easy twos in our drive and dish game.

I know we lost Wrightsell, but we've got to find a way to generate more open 3 looks.

BTW, not having Reid last night was big because he's a master at making contested shots. Missing him might have been the difference in this game last night.

I wonder if this game being sandwiched between (2) road top 10 matchups had an impact? Going into it I didn't think of it as a trap game. I couldn't help but wonder about it while leaving Coleman though.

We never do well against "aggressive" teams.
It is CNO's achilles heel.

I just hate to lose home games in basketball. And it may be an especially bad slip up in this particular season. Ole Miss is not going to win the league. They are good, and they will go to the tournament, but they are not championship good.

Still, it is a long season after all and there is plenty of time to make up for it.

This might just be a one off loss but I don't think so. This is not the team I thought we had before the season started and it is mainly due to poor 3 point shooting. Losing Wrightsell hurt and not having Mallette has also hurt. But, this team still has loads of talent. If they can get that 3 point percentage up above 35% I think they can still make a deep run in the tournament.

We've talked a lot the last two games about fouls and some of them not getting called on us.

But when your offensive philosophy is a 1-2-3 offense that tries for FTS, 2's at the basket and 3's, then 2/3 of your offense is based on contested shots at the rim. That's a lot of potential fouls.

This is not an explanation/defense of the amount/lack of fouls that are occurring, but just a reminder this is what we intend to do. And it puts officials in a positon to either be while happy OR "let them play."

I think we are missing the 3 element and it's impacting everything else and that's how OM played us...inside out. They conceded if we can make 3s and win fine but they were not going to surrender at the rim.

Bad news? Expect this to happen more until we can start hurting teams from the 3 point line.

This was a very disappointing loss. However... Ole Miss is an exceptional defensive team. They a very disruptive. We didn't play well, but Ole Miss had a lot to do with that.
