First time seeing Bethea. He looks like a player. I also like the way he looked when Coach Oats spoke to him on several occasions during breaks; appeared to be listening with focus.

Oats allowed the defense to slack off a little in the 2nd half. 2nd half looked like an all-star game; the sooner the defense gives up a shot, the quicker they can get into offense mode.

Not a whole lot of insight comes from games like this, but some things stood out. One, Trelly is not yet back in "game shape"... hopefully it'll come quick because we can use him against Arizona. Two, Bethea looks to be another shooter/slasher in the mold of Philon and Allen. That third guy who can do that will prove invaluable to us IMO. Third, we need Sherrill to attack the rim inside instead of playing with finesse. He's getting there on the defensive end, but offensively he needs to realize he can't be stopped if he goes full bore to the rim. Rather good win considering we played with a third of our roster out.

There are only 2 walkons. They both played. Teams don’t really have walkons anymore.

Aden has been superb in that role.

I want to see Martin take some minutes from Williamson.

There fact this team looked this good playing 3 freshman and missing two starters and awesome. Bethea looked really good and exciting. Allen and Jemison are ballers. Team has ton of potential for sure.

Every time I watch Williamson he just sticks out as a sore thumb. I’m guessing his PT is coming to a close. I hope whatever is wrong with Onyejiaka isn’t bad, him being out is only reason I can see Williamson playing.

Edit- just saw it is an irregular heartbeat for him and that’s why he’s out.

The best part of having so many guys out was that Bethea got lots of minutes and looked extremely good. Remember, this guy was the #5 overall recruit in the 2024 class. He won the slam dunk contest at the McDonalds All-American game. He is a plus athlete that can shoot. If he plays to his potential the ceiling of this team goes way up.
