RIP Coach. Prayers for the family and Mississippi State. Hail State
Should also mention his master's from the Sports Academy in Daphne. His story about crawfish at the Florabama while he was at school there is fantastic too. This one hurts, and as CA stated, I am not one to get upset when a "celebrity" passes either, but this one does bother me. This guy was a classic of a human being and will sincerely be missed.
"I miss streakers".....Classic Leach! LOL! RIP Coach aka "The Pirate"

Ironically both died at 61...according to their Wikipedia pages. There have only been 2 celebrity deaths that have upset me and both happened this year. The first was Norm MacDonald and now Mike Leach. I hate you 2022
I've listened to several interviews this morning by national media sports talking heads all the way down to local media figures in Starkville and one thing that I find absolutely funny, and soooo Mike Leach, is they all mentioned that when they had a chance to sit down and interview him, he seemed to get bored with talking football and they ended up talking about some obscure, down the rabbit hole topic the entire time. LOL! RIP Coach!I have a good friend who has made State my second favorite team now, and I also have a niece who now attends State. I suppose that is part of what makes this seem even more sad, but I think the main thing is just how shocking it is. We think of these players and coaches as tough guys who work hard to entertain us, and Leach's offenses often entertained people through the years. However, Leach seemed like more of a regular guy who understood that football wasn't really very important in the grand scheme of things. He will be missed. Prayers for his family!
