I'll throw this into the discussion (a few days late). I know it takes luck to win championships, but that 2007 LSU championship team was the luckiest I've ever seen! And to do it with two losses was even more amazing!!! If LSU doesn't back into the national championship in 07 this discussion wouldn't be happening.

Disclaimer for my LSU friends: I will have to admit that if Bama ever wins a BCS championship by getting lucky, despite losing 2 games, and even if they "back into it" WE'LL TAKE IT AND BRAG ABOUT IT TOO!!!

Well, no one had a better record except the other team in the National Championship game and LSU beat them! Two triple-overtime losses simply beats the decisive defeats of the other 2-loss contenders.

Didn't say it wasn't real or deserved, just lucky. I'd say the same thing about OSU if they would have won. I'd say the same thing about Bama if they would have won that way too.

I guess what I also didn't explain is what I would consider the "luck" it took to get to 12 wins that year (regardlss of the two losses). Some of those fourth down conversions and last minute wins... it just seemed the stars were aligned for Les and LSU that year.

You did read my disclaimer didn't you? :)

One has to wonder what the bowls would have looked like if Kansas had won that last game of the season against Missouri and made it to the Big 12 Championship game, finished undefeated and Big 12 Champs instead of 11-1? I guess you could argue they didn't play anyone, weak OOC and didn't face Texas, Oklahoma or even Texas Tech but still 12-0 in a major BCS conference, they aren't Utah.

Hate to say it but the barn of 04 was better than LSU of 07. Face it LSU backed into the BCS title.

LSU had the best argument of all the 2 loss teams. The fact that we were SEC champs while Ga. didn't even play in the game (and got smoked by Tenn. 35-7, I think) USC lost to a pitifull Stanford, and the huge win over Va. Tech got us in.

And by the way, we beat the bejesus out of Ohio St.

We are the 2007 NC's

FACE IT.

I'll take it.

Just like you would if Bama would have been in the same situation.

Miles and Saban are both still writing their legacies.

To be continued...............

:BigA:But what was it MYLES said? They were the only team in the coutry that was undefeated in regulation time! Brilliant Forget about the overtimes and just say that LSU wins if they are tied at the end of regulation time! Instead of kicking the field goal against Auburn for a sure win he throws it in the end on a low % play! Again just lucky ! He must not have not had enough time to think about it! Just brriliant . He is a lot like Coker of Miami! He will do OK for a while with the team that Saban rebuilt! You just cant compare what he inherited with what Saban took over and rebuilt!

Someone please answer this question:

Why do Alabama fans constantly feel the need to make the point that they think that Les Miles is a horrible coach? Why do you care? It looks like unbelievable insecurity to me. Being an LSU fan living in Alabama, I hear it constantly on the radio, from Bama fans, and on message boards. Who cares? The only reason Bama and LSU even recruit against one another is because Saban is convinced that he will eventually pull a big fish from Louisiana. We're still waiting.

LSU fans on the other hand can't stand Saban and we aren't afraid to admit it. We don't like him because he used to be our jerk of a coach and he professed his loyalty to us. He called his process the "LSU way" and said that LSU was a great place to get an education and begin to build your life. Then, he left. Fine. Lots of LSU fans pulled for the Dolphins. But, he came back to Alabama and began to compete against us directly and try and take us down in recruiting and on the field. The guy we loved is now against us. It hurts worse. We know him well and it makes a lot of LSU fans angry to see him competing against us for every Louisiana recruit and on the field. Why is that so hard to understand?

But, I still have no idea why Alabama fans are so invested in proving that Miles is an idiot who can't coach. Does that make you feel more secure? Does it make you feel better? Seriously. Someone please tell me why this comes up here again and again.

Oh I guess its the same as Coach Nick Satan threads coming up on LSU boards again and again. Does that make you guys feel better? ;)

When Nick decided to come back to the college game would it have made LSU fans more happy if he asked permission from you where he could coach? Alabama has had coaches leave and coach at another SEC school. If Les is your dream coach why are LSU fans and Les so obsessed with Nick and Alabama?

Do we think Les is a little bit goofy?
Yep
Do we think Les was handed a championship quality team on a silver platter?
Yep
Do we think Nicks recruits helped Les?
Yep but Les did coach them
Do we think Les has dropped a stitch since all Nick's recruited players have cycled through your system?
Yep
Do we think Les and LSU will fall to the bottom of the conference?
Nope, we expect you to be contenders most years just like we expect to be.
Not all of us think Les can't coach but do we think Nick is better?
Yep he's our coach now and it's called support.
Do we think Les can recruit?
Yep
Do we think LSU has become some sort of Dynasty lately?
Nope

It's a Bama message board skip over the parts you don't like.

Still waiting for an answer to my question. Why are Bama fans so interested in pointing out that Saban is a better coach than Miles? What does it profit you? Why do you care? The answers that you gave me are that you DO think that Saban is better than Miles and that Miles is causing LSU to decline. I know that. The question is, why are Bama fans so interested in constantly comparing the two and pointing that out. I told you why LSU fans can't stand Saban. I understand that Bama fans hate Miles and think he is a complete idiot. The question is, why do you care? Why the regular insistence that he isn't as good as Saban?

Ever since Alabama hired Saban, there has been an incessant proclamation from Bama fans that Saban is a god and Miles sucks. Why the comparison?

So again, why do you care about Les Miles so much? I don't see nearly the attention given to Houston Nutt, Petrino, Urban Meyer, Mark Richt, Steve Spurrier, etc. Why Miles?

Probally because LSU made us care. Nobody cared until LSU fans came out of the woodwork everywhere denouncing Saban as the evil spawn of the devil and told us he would never win more than seven games average. So basically its like sticking our tounges out at you.:p

Probably because Less likes to run his pie hole so much....... and the fact that you guys whine that you'd been better last year if you hadn't lost your starting QB, well guess what all the warning signs with RP were there long before any real action was taken, Less gambled and almost lost his team he DID lose his season because he put all his eggs in RP's basket and did not seriously develop another QB until he was finally FORCED to do something with RP. Then it was too late. Bad coaching and worse leadership.

We also hear about how great a game day coach he is and I also remember him lucking out against the barn any real coach would have managed the clock and taken the three but Less got lucky no other explination, and you can argue till your blue and orange in the face but deep inside you know he got lucky more than once in 2007. You folks also crow about beating Ohio St like a drum probably 4 or 5 SEC teams would have beaten them as bad or worse.

That's why Miles........................

Hmm. How do you keep an LSU fan busy??

Please! Your precious Les started it with his idiotic proclamations and expletive laced remarks concerning Alabama and Saban. Add into that the incessant insults screamed by your insecure fan base and folks like you constantly pressing the issue itself.

No matter who the Tide's coach is now, LSU still owes everything to Nick Saban for making you guys relevant again. It just so happens he is coaching Alabama. Tha's all. Do you understand?? :) If not, then you're welcome to geaux..:BigA:

We don't have nearly the interested posters here from those schools that we have from LSU. Pretty simple really. Bama board, rival posters. Plus, y'all are a confident and cocky bunch that loves to crow. We love throwing it back at ya.

If you don't like it-- go away. I occasionally peruse an LSU board. Don't post there. If I did I would expect to be treated the same way. Which is exactly the way bayou, buzzard, and everybody else that posts over there is treated.

Simple question, simple answer, simple remedy.
