Can I just make the point one more time that just because a person didn't think #4 was a good quarterback doesn't mean that person hates him and wishes ill against him???

I think I know why he didn't go in round one. Same reason I had a problem with him being our QB for the last two years -he can't do basic QB things. All he knows how to do is run fast.

That's why he didn't get drafted last night. Some team will take a chance on him. I think it probably should be after the 2nd or 3rd round, but again I'll say, just because I don't think he's a good QB doesn't mean I'm sitting here rooting against him.

The funny thing about this draft is the number 1 overall pick would have been at best a second round pick last year.
I was really hoping the Titans would trade back. Ward has BUST written all over him and there are so many areas on the roster that need to be addressed. I think the Giants got the best QB prospect on the board. Definitely a ton of upside with Dart.

Yeah, the Titans will be selecting a QB again in the very near future.

I wonder at what point (if ever) there will be a swing away from the QB, who is more of an athlete, back to a QB, who is more of pocket passer???

The Giants did what a lot of draft experts said a team would do if they were truly interested in the pick being a franchise QB. They'd move back up in the late first round and get them there in order to get that fifth year under their rookie contract. Sanders mouth got him booted out of the first round and Milroe's field vision and lack of ability to process the game fast enough sealed his fate to not being a first rounder. But if they can get picked up in the second or third round, get with a team who doesn't need a starter right now, they can develop. If they're asked to start right away, they're probably doomed.

i heard they are really going to shake things up when they bring back brian van gorder on the sidelines

Actual quote I heard this morning. "it is okay that the falcons traded back up into the first round and lost a first round pick next year. That pick will at worst be the 30th pick."

a friend of mine that kept saying they falcons would trade down. I correctly predicted they would trade up.

Can't believe the Giants traded up for Dart. Not surprised Milroe fell out of round 1 and I think he could fall a good bit further.
Apparently, Dart's attending and throwing at the combine changed a lot of teams' opinions about him. He came into the combine with a hard 2nd to 3rd round grade, then once the combine was over, the talks of him potentially slipping into the first round started.

If one OC in the NFL knew that virtually all of Alabama's skill players would have hit the portal if Milroe had stayed in Tuscaloosa, all 32 coaching staffs and front offices knew it.

It's one thing to have a conflict with a teammate. That happens. But virtually all of the WRs, TEs and RBs? That sends a loud and clear message.

Tangentially related, I am curious as to what changed for Jalen Hurts. In Tuscaloosa, he had virtually the same shortcomings as Milroe -- trouble reading the field, over-reliance on his legs, inaccurate passing, WRs in revolt. Somewhat better at OU, which I attribute to Lincoln Riley. Say what you will about Riley as a HC, he's a really good QB coach.

Today, in the most positive way, Hurts isn't the same player.

What did he do to develop?

I think development is an oversold line. There was a famous quarterback guru that was being used by just about everyone at the time that said “quarterbacks either have it or they never will by their second year of college”. You can make tweaks but the game is too fast to make the massive leaps that many envision happening under quarterback coaches. Jalen hurts is the huge exception to this.

Humble enough to realize he needed to work on things? Cannot be the Eagles coaching since that has changed more times than most people change socks

What did he do to develop?
JH started his QB ascent when he sat behind Tua. He never had the time to develop in college due to Blake Barnett falling flat Jalen's freshman year. But once he sat out and worked on his game (and probably learned a lot from Tua about the passing game), he was remarkably better when he, ironically, replaced Tua in the SECCG and led us to a win over Georgia, again!

Not taking away from what he learned under Riley and then getting to throw it all over the lot in OU, but Jalen started getting better at Bama!

And that's where the comparisons to Milroe end. JM should have been developed by the time his number was called at Bama. He'd been in the program 2 or 3 years. And, if we excuse his 1st year as a starter, if he was ever going to show he had legit QB chops, he surely would have shown them by year 2 as a starter. But NO!

It is, but it still doesn't stop NFL teams from taking chances on highly athletic players. It's just too tempting.
