Missing the SEC Divisions

The SEC should have stuck with the East-West Divisions. I had wanted Alabama and Auburn to move into the East with Missouri moving to the West to join Texas and Oklahoma there. As founding members of the Conference, both Alabama and Auburn had old rivals in the East. The permanent cross division rivals could have then stayed the same for most schools with a few interesting changes, so:
Vandy-Ole Miss
USC-TAMU
Kentucky-MSU
Florida-LSU
Tennessee-Oklahoma
Alabama-Texas
Auburn-Arkansas
Georgia-Missouri

Then the Championship would have remained between the true Division winners.

I think the Championship game is about to end or we are about to go to divisions. There are too many teams right now IMHO.
There is zero chance this happens.

"The SEC hasn't provided specific revenue breakdowns in its annual distribution announcements in more than a decade. Alabama's thrilling 32-28 win over Georgia in 2012 generated $16.3 million, and the amount the league championship brings in now would be significantly higher."

i think it will hurt in the long run because it's going to end up limiting the number of teams that get in to the 12 team playoff. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Playing in conference championship game gives you one extra hard game to play. Losing would make it even worst in that you would not get a bye in the play offs. Not playing in the championship game worked to our advantage twice.

you said you couldn't imagine a scenario, I gave you an example. Sure it is highly unlikely and completely ridiculous but so is losing to Georgia State but beating Alabama and also playing texas to the wire.
Well, you could also have a three-conference-loss team losing in the SECCG...

Possible, maybe - but I was talking about realistic scenarios. Kinda figured I wasn't suggesting basically impossible scenarios. :ROFLMAO:

I think we will see teams get to the SEC Championship by virtue of their schedule, It looks like Texas A&M is going to do that this year. The down side with the 12 team playoff the title game may be more of a liability than a help. Other teams don't risk the injury, they get extra rest and healing time. for the playoff I know it will be different every year but it seems this year the 12 seed might be able to beat the 1 seed and it not be that big of an upset.

The 12th seed will almost always be a G5 team, and they will be playing the 5th seed in the first round. The 5th seed will most likely be the SEC title game loser, and I just don't see a G5 team winning at an SEC stadium.

I think we need a few years to evaluate how it will play out.

Obviously, Bama is in uncharted territory with 2 SEC losses.

I was hoping for a LSU win over TAMU since we have LSU next and a win in Baton Rouge would put us in a strong place toward the top of the SEC race again...at least the best 2 loss team.

Slightly off topic, but I'm not buying TAMU as the best team in the league.

Me either. Finebaum was saying this morning that if the LSU/Bama game was played tomorrow, Bama wins. He said LSU has a lot of things to figure out and he doesn't know if TAMU or LSU was responsible for what happened in their game on Saturday.
