Names.......

How about Mike? That seems to be the name of choice for BAMA HC's lately. That way, no matter what kind of dog he turns out to be, you can claim that you named him after a BAMA HC.

Caution: Joke only.....

I'd be a little hesitant b/c their lifespan as h/c was very shortlived with one still to be determined. I would hope my dog would outlive both of the first 2 tenures, lol

Champ would have been my suggestion. Do any of you guys remember the T.V. show that came on in the 70's and 80's (i'm dating myself) called B.J. and the Bear. It was a truck driver with his pet monkey in one of the episodes they ask B.J. why did he name his monkey "Bear", he said I named him after the greatest football coach ever.

ROLL TIDE ROLL

My white F150 work truck with a crimson stripe along the said is named Big Al. As for the dog, lot depends on the personality of the dog. Funnily enough they generally name themselves so to speak. You look at the dog for a day or two and a name will pop into mind -- probably Bama related. How about BDS and pronounce it Bids?

Gene Hackman's Jack Russell on the movie Crimson Tide was named Bear also.

GO BAMA!!! ROLL TIDE!!!

I had a wonderful Springer named "Coach"...registered name was "Coach of the Crimson Tide".

Current dog (almost my 5th child) is named "Annie Bama". She's an Airedale Terrier we rescued...ergo Orphan Annie. Bama is self explanatory. Instead of Ala Bama...it's Annie Bama.

Use initials:

RT (Ar-tie) for Roll Tide.
TD for touchdown
NC for National Champs...or just 'Champ for short.

Last year, I lost Zeke, my weimer of 12 years, a few days after July 4. He had a great 4th last year before he went down. It was rougher to get the sucker-punch out of my stomach than I ever imagined. I still miss the Pal.

I'm sorry!!! My dad gave my Abby, a chocolate lab, away last year on June 30th I'd never cried so much in my life, that punch hurts in your stomach when you come home one night and you call out your dogs name and your dad just looks at you and says "She's gone". I'm gonna stop now I don't feel like crying tongiht I'm in to good of a mood!!!!

I have read this debate with much interest, I raise BOXER's, and was wondering how everyone would respond. I must agree with someone who said that the dog will usually give or if you prefer, tell you his/her name. My champion stud dog is named "BRODIE". I would suggest that you wait till you get the dog, and then go from there. Good luck in your search!

PS. Get the dog as soon as you can, 4 or 5 weeks old. This will keep the other dogs in the litter from imprinting the pup. ( who is dominate and who is last in the pack.) This will also help him bond with you and your family.

Hmmmm English bulldog a tough bruising type with a toothy grin, How about Smiley? or Hannah or Lee Roy or as some have suggeted Biscuit

I am about to buy a dog. I am hoping some of you guys can help me come up with some good names that are Alabama related. The only names that have been ruled out are Bryant and Bear. Those names are not an option because I intend on using them for my future son(whenever I decide to have one). Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.</font>
I haven't read them all but I always thought Barker would be a good name. It fits a dog(if he Barks) and a Great Tide Player as well.
My dog is named Max for the record(Mom named him).

First time poster and I've got to jump in on this one. We have a golden retriever named 'Barker'. Got him in '92 ... Jay BARKER was one of our hometown favorites ... it was a natural.

I'm on my 4th Old English Leg, I mean bulldog. You're in for a treat-best dogs in the world. High maintenance, but nothing better. I've had a Samson, Spike, Beauregard, and now Bama Ravenell (we call him Ravenell). I hope you know that these are house dogs and require as much attention as a kid-maybe more.
