New coach search...

I may be old fashioned (forget may be, I am) but if we have to "out bid" the competitin for some coach, then he isn't the right one. If Marshall is hell bent to stay at WSU, then let him stay. We need a coach who wants to build a program to rival CNS. I have to believe there's someone out there who wants to do that.

While it would be nice if that's the way it works, unfortunately, it's not.

People can say it's not about the money...and they may mean "it's not JUST about the money" but things are rarely just right without the money being "eye popping."

Lol. I was using the laughing so hard I was crying emoji! I almost always agree with you especially the X's and O's stuff.

Maybe, he's resting up for next season. Could be a long one if the ball boy is coaching.

I know he may be a little green as far as head coaching, but I wouldn't complain if the PTB went after Archie Miller if Marshall doesn't work out.

Yep! Archie Miller would be a great choice! I hear that he and his family don't really like Dayton!

I would take Mike Anderson as well but I think he just signed an extension in Arkansas so I'm betting like Crean he will cost too much IF Bama even wants him.

I don't know if he'll ever be an Izzo and that was not my point at all. My point is we'd have the 6th highest salary in all college basketball.

The athletic administration is doing everything they can to make this the hire that put Alabama basketball back on the map and sending a clear message to the fans that basketball is important. You could not say that 2 weeks ago when we were going to keep a coach who by all accounts had packed it in.

The only hesitation I think Marshall will have is co-existing with A big persona like Saban. Hopefully he is secure enough to understand that they can both be great independent of one another. Football will always be the lead dog here, but there is absolutely no reason basketball can't be successful as well. If we went to couple of tourneys in a row and managed to win a few games Coleman would be rocking with students. Early in Grant's tenure we gave him a standing O every time he walked on the floor and there often 4000 students there with some being turned away so don't tell me there is no interest.

Rama, I wasn't saying your post was ridiculous. I was saying that, to me, it would be ridiculous for us to pay Marshall more than MSU pays Izzo. He doesn't have an Izzo quality resume. He has an outstanding one, just not Izzo like.
Sorry for not making myself clear.

Well, I don't think Marshall will be the next coach, but I may be wrong, . It certainly won't be the first time.

I don't think anyone ever said we shouldn't try for a "home run" hire, but I disagree with what constitutes a "home run" hire. Some give the impression that if we don't get Marshall anyone else is "lower tier" who we'll have to "settle" for and we'll be forever entombed in the bowels of the SEC. That's simply not true. There several good coaches out there, anyone of whom would constitute a "home run" hire...and IMO anyone who thinks the BB program is doomed to mediocrity without Marshall are the ones selling the athletic department and program short.

Trust me, while Marshall is certainly a good coach, he's not the next John Wooden who'll lead Bama to 10 national championships. Whomever is the next coach at Bama will be a "home run" hire, heck, most thought CAG was a "home run" hire six years ago.

Hey, I agree with those sentiments. But you are not the type of fan I was addressing.
