I'll preface my answer w/better to wait until this season is all played out before questions like this should be asked. That as a given, CS & CMac will make that call & I will gleefully nod my head in approval, shake my pom-poms, & cheer "Shish-Qumbaya!" - NO MATTER WHO it is that the staff evaluates as coming out on top... FWIW, I think it'll be McElroy who will lead the way going into the spring - I'm clueless after that. R!T!R!Who do you believe will be the Bama QB next year?
Then again we were supposed to be 9-3 (at best) this year, UT and AU were supposed to be great and UGA was the preseason #1. So much for being able to predict the future eh? Who knows what next year holds, we could be even better on offense next year. I know we expected our O-Line to be a little weak and Terry Grant to be our starting running back this year too! As long as everyone does their jobs, we'll be fine. . .Regardless, we can expect a drop-off offensively in 2009. We will lose Caldwell and (probably) Andre to the NFL. Bring in a new QB with a new OL, and you've got problems in the SEC. Fortunately, the schedule brings most of our toughest games to Bryant-Denny, where we are slowly rebuilding a bona fide home field advantage.
2010 however, and 2011 after that, could be really special if the current staff stays together and recruiting continues to be dominant.
3 years in which system? McElwain hasnt even been here a full year.Star maybe has more talent, but theres a lot to be said about being in the system for 3 full years. I think its going to go to McElroy.
I trust that with the recruiting classes CNS has been rounding up, and the way some true freshmen have stepped up this year, there will not be a drop off on offense or defense next year. I'm not taking anything away from Andre or JPW, but the future is so bright I can barely see the keyboard to type this.Regardless, we can expect a drop-off offensively in 2009. Really? I could have sworn Coach Mac has been here for at least 10!3 years in which system? McElwain hasnt even been here a full year.
Think he was referring to 3 years on the team in general. In 1AA football at Alabama system.3 years in which system? McElwain hasnt even been here a full year.
The future is very bright, indeed. I'm just pointing out that when you lose senior leadership of that caliber, it's hard to replace. LSU is struggling this year because of so much youth at key positions. Frankly, so is Auburn (but there are other latent problems with that program that have nothing to do with talent and experience).I trust that with the recruiting classes CNS has been rounding up, and the way some true freshmen have stepped up this year, there will not be a drop off on offense or defense next year. RTR!
I believe that the scout team can change weekly to best match the next opponent. Star was likely running it because he best matched the Arky State QB in his abilities. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see him start next year. It's all according to how he competes and how well he manages the offense. After the game i listened to the radio and Ali Sharrief said that Star ran the scout team. Ill bet my bottom dollar that Star will be the Starter.
