Victim of his own success.

Those awards usually go to a HC who is perceived as doing ‘More with Less’ out of the Top 5-10 teams in any given year.

Sometimes it goes to a guy who just comes out of nowhere with a Worst to First kind of turnaround at a School.

Cignetti should win it this year, for example. 100% deserved.

And what's crazy is the "coach of the year awards" almost always went toward a guy who had great year for that team not coached by CNS because for about 15 straight years with the exception of a few, he could have been named "coach of the year."

It's almost like these coaching awards didn't consider him most years because he was so consistently great!

To me (Troy State grad) this would mean more if they weren't also honoring lowlife Larry Blakeney.
He was the main player behind the pay for play that got Pat Dye fired at Auburn.
He left Auburn before being outed for his role. He was already the coach at Troy and his only punishment at Troy was his wife had to give up her lucrative non-job for the school.
