Well, I'll be darned. Puts a bit of a different spin on it I guess.

I still don't agree with anyone saying it that the naysayers or "naysayers" were proven right. That's very unfair to the 2023 team IMO.
I don't remember any naysayers before the season began, and this started before the season began. Who were the Naysayers? It never meant that.

That is part of the problem. In theory a recruit cannot be induced to sign scholarship by including an NIL package. A signed contract before the fact would make that illegality obvious. What is sometimes happening is that promises are not being followed through. I believe the UF QB who was promised a huge NIL that fell through is leaving for that reason. It is a wild west with no rules ENFORCED.

A hypothetical question potentially for the lawyers in the room. Lets suppose that the university enters into a contract to sell a portion of the rights to their stadium, with a compulsory buy back clause, with the intent that this company will perform task X. As such, company Y would be entitled to a portion of the ticket sales proceeds, lets say 20 dollars a ticket. Could company Y collect the proceeds from the ticket sales and pay towards student NIL deals?

Yeah, I'm not suggesting that there shouldn't or wouldn't be an NIL component. Merely putting forth a scenario where "university" funds could supplement NIL deals.

Alabama NIL is probably decent but not to be compared with the big money programs.

We have been living in an era of the "Saban Dividend", in which players (the kind of players we want) are willing to defer a proportion of the NIL they could have gotten elsewhere in order to maximize their lifetime opportunities - because of the proven personal growth and achievement under Saban.

Obviously that is no longer the case. It is no negative reflection on DeBoer that he is not Saban, and some players have tested the portal and presumably found that they are being "underpaid". I expect DeBoer to need to do more with less, for the foreseeable future.
All that NIL money and all those championships for AtM, ohio state, miami and texas.....

I asked previously without response so I'll give it another try. Are the NIL dollar amounts stated for a player a per year amount or college career based figure?

True that.

We are really just getting started with the NIL era. Our hope is that five-star players + bad coaches (Jimbo) gives poor results. I don't think Miami has had good coaches either. I would say watch out for Sark. On Ryan Day, I don't really have an opinion, but he might be a choker - time will tell. Riley too.

I think it's a given that it's per year...😎

When talking about salaries or income it's always based on a yearly basis.

I think this may be the "make or break" year for day. His seat has gotten a little warm due to the loses to michigan. With the osu has spent this year he may be in the "prove it" stage.

100k is the asking point for a middle to top end 4* guy to just sign. What he gets after that is just gravy. Someone stepped up for the Saraland 5* guy to recommit here, over 250k easy.

Milroe was supposedly in the 1.750m range at the end of the year. I doubt he will be that much after the spring. These NIL deals can go from month to month, Quartey, every 6 months, etc.

The Saban discount is a thing of the past getting new players or keeping old ones.

Ole Miss went all in, as much as any team has for the portal this year. So, we will see. Problem with Ole Miss is all the players behind the portal guys, totally suck.
