Notre Dame angling for Orange Bowl deal

With the current grade requirements coupled with playing football in freezing cold, ND will never be relevant again. The best talent is here in the south. Try and convince someone to go freeze their tail off up there from here. Most of the good talent in the midwest wants to come here (See Mark Ingram and Trey DePreist)
Yeah the weather has really hindered other Midwest schools.

Rivals rankings:

2008:
Notre Dame #2
Ohio State #4
Michigan #10
Minnesota #17

2009
Ohio State #3
Michigan #8
Michigan State #17
Notre Dame #21

2010
Notre Dame #14
Michigan #20
Ohio State #25

2011
Notre Dame #10
Ohio State #11
Michigan #21

2012
Ohio State #4
Michigan #7
Notre Dame #20

2013 (current as of 7/10)
Michigan #1
Ohio State #10

That doesn't include seeing schools like Oregon, Washington, Nebraska or Colorado in the Top 25 rankings on a yearly basis. Cold weather has nothing to do with.

I have no problem as long as they are good enough. They do play a good schedule and have stricter recruiting rules.

One of the not so bright local yocals thought the masses would love any playoff format that was not favorable to Notre Dame, like that cancels out any other problems with the system. The younger generation does not understand the hatred for Notre Dame for the most part and how they have always had their nose up in the air, especially in 66. I am getting over it though.

I am hoping that the Cotton Bowl gets it's revenge and takes the Champions Bowl which will pit the top non playoff SEC vs same in the Big 12. Not sure what will happen with the Sugar Bowl though.

Whether or not they get invited to the Orange Bowl would depend on the Orange Bowl Select Committee. Given a ND 8-4 team or a West Virginia 10-2 team, Orange Bowl would likely choose ND to fill up the hotels and command higher ad fees in concert with the network.

See weather does make a difference!

A bit sarcatsic, and I know the rankings aren't right, but we were in the top 5 each year. The point being, you cherry-picked the "cold-weather" schools without giving any context of where the southern schools ended up. If you think weather isn't a factor, you are fooling yourself.

What the Orange Bowl does really don't bother me, but one would hope they try to put together the BEST game. ND has gotten favored status for Decades, it's not changing.

I think the bigger factor is where the overall talent is. High school football is better in much of the southeast.

I didn't cherry pick. I just posted the Top 25 schools from the Midwest since the post I replied to said that the cold weather is the reason Notre Dame hasn't gotten good players, which isn't the case when looking at the rankings.

Maybe a bit off topic but recruiting hasn't been Notre Dames problem, it's coaching. Imagine Coach Saban at Notre Dame, scary.

Won't get an argue from me. That point is made plenty clear when you see the recruiting rankings and their on field production.

The real question that should be asked is, "does Notre Dame have any pride at all?" They want everything given to them because of who they are. They should earn it, and if they do, let them go to a BCS bowl. If they get in and they truly didn't earn it, then they will just get embarassed over and over again. Alabama earns the respect and hatred from these other schools. Notre Dame has done nothing of late (20 years) to have a seat at the table with the big boys.

This is the way I see it. I mean how long do the rest of the college football and all the conferences stand by and just allow this to happen? The myth that is notre lame needs to just go ahead and die already.
Tommorrow wont be soon enough.

I can see where the Orange Bowl believes that Notre Dame vs Florida State, Virginia Tech, Miami, or Clemson sounds a lot better than a Big East vs ACC match-up.

I think N.Dame is just protecting themselves. I am not sure of the reason for the hate. Let them play the ACC champ when they win 9 or 10 games. Where else are they going to play? Why does it impact Alabama, the SEC will not be affected. The Orange Bowl used to have an arrangement with the Big Least, the Big least is about done.
The Orange Bowl never had an agreemant with the Big East and Notre Dame would have to qualify as a top selection.

You weren't alive and watching football in 1973 or 1974 were you.

If I'm the Cotton Bowl -- I'm completely happy -- because if nothing else, it lessens the stature of the Orange -- and might allow me to move back up to to the Top 4 (where they were before supplanted by the Fiesta) --
