OC and DC replacement discussion

Could hiring Armstrong be a backup plan for hiring Pruitt. What I mean is Just say he gets a year or two out of Pruitt before the NCAA gives him his punishment and he has to step aside that gives Armstrong time to learn the system and maybe take over as DC.
That never occurred to me but isn't a bad idea at all. I'd still rather have Schumann or Leonard as DC and bring Pruitt back to coach safeties but identifying young talent is also a fine idea.

Would love to be an audience to the CNS's thought process. I'm thinking he's known for some time what he wants and who he wants... (and may well have that lined up)
But, it's a puzzle... and he has to secure the pieces as he goes...
Thinking not of statistics here but more along the lines of qualities or characteristics, I'm thinking that in considering his hires he wants maybe...
some youth for the energy/enthusiasm/connecting with players
some age/experience to help guide the above
must have exceptional on-field teaching ability
specific skillsets in terms of position coaching
..... and then, once determining what he wants, finding the people (and the right personalities) who can accomplish it together as a staff
Maybe we could get CNS to tweet his thoughts as he goes... :)

I would rather have one of the other two because it gives more stability, but I also know that Coach Saban has to plan ahead because of the issues surrounding Pruitt. If Pruitt didn’t have the problems with the NCAA I want him hands down.

I continue to say "NO" to Mullen but much of that is based on his failures as a HC. I know he was a good OC at UF under Meyer, but beyond that and Tebow's jump pass I really don't remember that much about his offensive characteristics. Seems to be a good QB coach (although I think Dak Prescott is one of the most overhyped QBs in the NFL). So what's the draw with DM?
IDK, Mullen was a good OC under Meyer, but he has always run Meyers’ system, which is NOT a pro-set system. I just don’t see it, but I’m not even remotely an expert on anything football coaching wise.

Here's something nobody is talking about:
David Ballou -- $525,000 to $550,000 through Feb. 28, 2023
Robert Gillespie -- $535,000 through Feb. 28, 2023<-- Likely get extension and will stay.
Pete Golding -- $1.5 million to $1.7 million through Feb. 29, 2024 <- Gone
Bill O'Brien -- $1.1 million through Feb. 28, 2023<- Will be gone
Sal Sunseri -- $695,000 to Feb. 28, 2023 (up from $675,000)<- will be extended and moved back on the field
Holmon Wiggins -- $575,000 through Feb. 28, 2023 (up from $475,000) <-- Texas wants him
Charles Kelly -- $825,000 through Feb. 28, 2023 <- Took a job with Colorado

So, Changes Saban will make on Staff are usually the one whose contract expires next month. I'm not sure if Ballou will stay with Bama or not. I think he will. I've seen some mentions of that S &C program will see some changes there as well.

So This is positions that is likely to be filled in coming weeks:
FYI, I don't' think Hutzler will be back. Lot of chatters that Sal Sunseri is moving back to the field. He has experience coaching DL/LB/ST and DC as well. So Saban has lot of flexibility with Sal. I think he ends up coaching either OLB/ILB. Now, Austin Armstrong was hired by Bama, and he has lot of ILB experience, but Saban could have him coaching different positions. either way, There is likely a shuffling amont the coaches on offense. I don't think Pruitt will be on the field coach, but he'll be one of the assistant coaches in the off the field role...

if it's Leonhard- He'll coach Safeties
Schumann- Little flexibility. Can coach LB or safeties.
Pruitt- Safeties.

AHC of offense <- Likely Robert Gillespie or Sal Sunseri
WR-
ST
OLB
ILB- Austin Armstrong
DL??? Roach is 50/50... I don't think he leaves.
DC-

also, I don't think Austin isn't locked to coach
Will push to keep Roach and Wiggins best two recruiters left (maybe the two most responsible for the 2021 class) on staff and they won't want to lose their relationships....and contrary to what some loud folks think they are very good position coaches.

I’m not sure what anyone’s opinion is of him but what about Tom Herman? He’s working as an analyst for CBS.

Also, any chance Sabah would look at Kevin steele. Doesn’t seem like they’ve had the best relationship in the past but he can coach.

Will Muschamp has the Co defensive coordinator title at Georgia but I would assume you would want to run things yourself if you’re him.

lastly, I like the Pruitt as an analyst plan and would love to bring Bo Davis back. I’m not sure Davis would be willing to make a lateral move from Texas.

Man, you really aren’t a Bama fan…
Now, let's be fair - it is entirely possible that @Lucky Jack is actually a Bama fan and has been for as long as he claims, if two conditions are also true:

1. For almost all of those years, he simply had better things to do on Saturdays in the fall than watch football.
2. He began actually using the internet about a year ago.

I mean, it's technically possible...

I've been thinking about the next OC and while I have no names to mention the consensus opinion seems to be that we need an innovator like Kiffin or Sark was, but I just watched Georgia win back to back championships with an offense that features a great stable of RB's and a game manager QB who was pretty good at throwing to the TE which sounds pretty basic to me. If we can get an O-Line that can block like Georgia's can I don't think we really need to get too flashy on offense.
