Hoping they decide soon on the non conference slate so games can get finalized. CNO said in a recent interview that they had sent out some contracts and waiting for them to come back. Hope we hear something soon.

AL.com is saying Juwan Gary hasn't yet been cleared to play, I'm guessing from his knee injury. Do we have any idea if this has changed? Is there a current roster status thread?
Hey can you post a link on it, I can't find the article

247 released top 25 with Bama ranked #24. Nice write up and interesting read with team breakdown. I completely agree that it will be the defense that will determine how far this team will go. Points will come in this system but having a defense could make this team elite.

I love this note ...

WHY ALABAMA COULD REACH THIS POINT, OR MAY BE EVEN BETTER
This team seems to fit Oats like a glove. He has guards he can rely on, several guards who can make shots, big men who can play away from the basket and even depth and some roster versatility to deal with different situations. If Alabama gets in foul trouble, there are guys on the bench to turn to without drop off. And if Quinerly can replicate what he showed to become one of the nation’s elite recruits out of high school, the sky truly becomes the limit. Nobody wants to face a team in a tournament setting that can come in and put a game away with the outside shot before anyone breaks a sweat. Alabama has that kind of shooting potential.
Thats the challenge, there is so much uncertainty about this team since we haven't see everyone on the floor at the same time. It's almost similar to the type of talented class Memphis had last year. The big difference of course is this team is loaded with talented upperclassmen which should give the much needed leadership that last year's Memphis team lacked.

I can't say it enough, if they come in, work hard to gel as a team and buy into what the Oats is cooking ... the sky is truly the limit for this team. But they can't accomplish this without hard work and buying into the system.

Last year, there was a lot of buzz about how the team was doing extra stuff to build chemistry. I had been thinking about how the pandemic may impact their ability to do something similar this year while noticing no news of the team doing anything of this fashion. However, I read an article about a week ago with the Mississippi State coach talking about how the players can only interact with each other because of quarantining. Made me realize the team doesn’t have to do anything special this year as they’re together MUCH more than in years past. If this holds true, I think we may see even better team chemistry this year since they’re really had to become a single unit to get through all the “noise.” At least, that’s my hope.

This is the second consecutive year Alabama has lost a player to a season-ending injury during preseason practices. JUCO transfer forward James Rojas and then-freshman Juwan Gary both suffered season-ending knee injuries before the start of last season. As of last week, Gary had yet to be fully cleared.

I don't think I have ever been as excited for Bama Hoops.
I remember the CM Newton years and of course the Whimp Show.
Coach Oats is doing a remarkable job.
I am glad the administration finally made a commitment to bball.
There have been previous threads to discuss the following but if CNO and the team can get to the Dance and go deep the next couple of seasons the powers that be need to seriously consider new digs for the bball team.
That having been said, ROLL TIDE and here's to a great season.

I remember when Byrne said something like it may not be a name coach but it will be somebody we will like and some on our board were not extremely pleased with CNO's hiring. I think all those doubting are now very pleased over his recruiting and style of play and they will soon be pleased with the amount of W's he gets moving forward.

Nice interview with Shaq. My main takeaway was that CNO and staff are working hard to ensure we’ve got plenty of people who can handle the ball. So glad to hear as we had periods where there was some struggle in this area last year.

Interview with and about Herb. He’s really putting in time to be more successful on the offensive end this year. Good comments about the work he’s doing. If he can get his shot to no longer be a liability, combined with his defensive prowess, that would be yet another concern for opposing teams and would give him a great shot at the next level.
