*OFFICIAL* ALABAMA vs KENTUCKY Postgame thread

JPW - 1 pass completion in the 2nd half...

Against Tulane it was the pressure off the corner that we chalked his struggles up to. Not so sure today.
Today he was asked to do a few things that are not his strength. He really got rattled when he threw the pick and it took him a few possessions to get his head back in the game.

As long as we keep it to shorter passes, he is great - but we can't ask him to air it out. He is a great leader. We have to trust him...

I am very happy to get a win today. I don't think you can expect to blow everyone out or have a perfect game every week. I was disappointed with all the mental errors and the what seemed to be lack of intensity.

Well, Bama won, but the 3rd qtr again was a problem for the offense. I'm glad they regrouped in the 4th and were able to get that big FG. I still can't believe the D gave up that late TD, but at least the onsides kick went out of bounds.

To those who felt my comment about "we are not even a top 10 team" was over the top, I was using our performance from today as the barometer. We played like one last week but I dare anyone to say we played like one today.
We won. We also dominated KY. That is all that matters, right?

I would prefer for every game to be a blowout win, but that just isn't gonna happen.

BTW, KY's defense is for real - the best that we have faced this season. My hat is off to them...

The real question is: With parity what it is today, especially in the SEC, just exactly what is a top 10 team supposed to look like? Does it have to be pretty? Or is a win a win?

I missed the entire 1st qtr and most of the 2nd qtr, we were at confession :) Did I hear that right. The game is going to be replayed on Tue night at 8 pm on CBS College Sports?

As I said in another thread, an ugly win sure beats a well played loss. That being said, Bama didn't play well and did a lot to try to help Kentucky score. However, I think we expect too much of these young men to play at the level they played last week, every week.

One thing we should note is that we are now bowl eligible (i.e. we can count Western Carolina)

I'll say it. You know why I'll say it... because we didn't play well but still found a way to win. That's what championship teams do... they win. I don't know if you remember the '92 season, but Jay Barker wasn't the best QB we've ever had... but the leadership and sense of team was ENOUGH.

Tiffin missed a PAT (negated by a flag) and 2 FGs... but he hit one when it counted. After Arkansas a few years ago, I was ready to crucify him... but he bounced back. He did the same today. That's the mark of a champion.

Along with others, Coffee bled today. I DARE you to take a beating like he did today and CHALLENGE you to have the strength to sing YEA ALABAMA at the end of the game.

There are concerns with this team, but we do not have to win every game 84-0 to be a "good" team. This isn't NCAA 2009 on the XBOX.

Ilike the comment the commentator made.

"you can't expect a team to play at peak performance every week, they will only be able to do that 4 or 5 games a year"

Let's just be glad that we played like this against "the #1 defense in the country"

After today's game I believe that Kentucky deserves that title.

We will likely fall 2-3 spots in the rankings, but that simply doesn't matter at this point. Take em' one at a time, keep winning, and the rankings will take care of themselves.

I feel like I need to take a shower to wash off the Lundquist/Danielson.:mad2:

I kinda new this was coming, at least it happened when we have two weeks to clear up mistakes. IMHO, there were mistkes made everywhere, The O, The D, ST, and in play calling. Did I see a prevent defense???? IMO, CNS makes to clear up mistakes... from the top down. He will have 2 weeks to do it...JUST DO IT!:)

The problem lies in the mental errors that were present in the game today.
Yes Bama won, but it never should have been that close. Why is that?

Missed kicks, turnovers (especially on the 3 yard line), penalties, among other issues all display a lack of mental focus and Kentucky took advantage of those errors.
The refs didn't help much at times, either, but regardless, Kentucky stayed in that game and they should be commended for it.

Bama, however, did not play to their potential.
