Well...This game reminds me of Larry Holmes versus Tex Cobb. Holmes was quoted after the fight that there will be no rematch, my hands can't take the punishment.
No rematch with Georgia and no rematch with Kentucky.:biggrin::biggrin:

Ingram tweaked his ankle (I believe) last week, so that's probably why he wasn't in more. I don't know why Roy wasn't in more except that Coffee was just on fire, so why not use him. Grant hasn't contributed much at all the past couple of weeks. It's odd that CNS says "we have three good running backs." That makes me think that Grant either is in the doghouse or just can't hang with what they need him to do except in very select situations.
no.Kentucky 2007 > Kentucky 2008
Would you agree?
I usually try to not blame refs, but I agree with the assessment. Not because they almost cost us the game or anything like that but because they missed SO MANY calls! The offensive pass interference against Julio was egregious. The ball spotting on several drives was 1/2 to 1 yard wrong (both for and against us). The non-calls on several late hits by UKY when our guy was already on the ground are the ones that make the maddest, though, because they're uncalled for, deliberate, and potentially dangerous. The refs were as bad as they come. Bama did enough to win. Roll Tide.
A friend who is a photographer for one of the BIG services (like Boy *****.com), showed his roll of (digital) film to me with MANY MANY photos of Alabama players jerseys being held and pulled over and over. I don't remember but maybe ONE holding "official" call against KY...I usually try to not blame refs, but I agree with the assessment. The ball spotting was the thing I noticed the most. I kept wondering to myself if Alabama has a staff member that goes back and looks at these things the next day. If so, they are going to find about 20 or so yards lost or gained left on the field due to the refs. These refs need to be reprimanded.. My biggest problem with the refs is that they let the sidelines influence their calls too much. If you see a penalty throw the flag, but when you allow a sideline to talk you in to seeing something then you don't need to be in that position. Unfortunently, this tends to be happening more and more. The ball spotting was the thing I noticed the most. Which brings me to my second point. Bama has been one of the least penalized teams in the country until today. I'll betcha the refs are catching some heat from the other SEC coaches about Bama getting away with penalties. Then there was the blown no-call on the punt return last week and the attention that the refs got from it. Nobody likes to be called out and I think CNS "tried" to brush it to the side but the fact remains that they were called out on it. I'm just hoping this doesn't become a trend.
You are exactly right...the ball may not have bounced our way today but we still had the fortitude to over come an win!Weve played 6 games.... 3 conference games... and 2 teams ranked in the top ten when we played them.... we are 6-0...WE HAVE NOT TRAILED IN A GAME YET!!!!!!! I dont see the need for doom and gloom quite yet.
I'll be the first to admit JPW has picked up his game this year and it's helped us ,however, it concerns me when a Sr. QB gets rattled over a mistake and it takes him that long to re-focus. I'll take an ugly win any day of the week but at some point, we aren't going to have the luxury of wasting 3-4 possessions to get our heads back in the game. Special teams played much better today on kick-off/punt returns. Coffee was the game saver/workhorse today. The 1st fumble was a fluke off the defenders face mask (who fell into him), I think theToday he was asked to do a few things that are not his strength. He really got rattled when he threw the pick and it took him a few possessions to get his head back in the game.
As long as we keep it to shorter passes, he is great - but we can't ask him to air it out. He is a great leader. We have to trust him...
