Man, win number 4 almost seemed like it was never going to come. This'll be tough to live all week, but I digress

Anyway, I now feel confident in calling for a QB change. I like JPW and all, but I just don't get a sense that we'll ever have a consistent passing attack with him at the helm. Hope Saban kicks them in the butt in practice, 'cause Ole Miss has got to be licking their chops right about now.

What I've thought for a while was confirmed today. We have some skill position players. We have more than UH. When it come to very important positions other than those, our players aren't any better than UH - and maybe not as good as a lot of CUSA teams. It's just very hard to face that fact...
You are exactly right. We have some very talented players but we also have many holes to fill.

Offensive regression

Our offense has regressed to the point that CMA must try something new. JPW (guts aside) has played poorly and we cannot expect to beat our upcoming opponents with the mess we have on the offensive side of the ball. I hate to say it, but I think its time for McElroy to see some playing time and for CMA to get off the first page of the playbook to move the ball. I'm glad we won, but the offense in the second half of this game was atrocious and will not be good enough to beat TN, AUB or even Ole Miss for that matter. Its time to take a stand and make a change!

A win is a win(my opinion on the houston game)

but we looked worse today than all year, came out booming... Totally changed our game plan(or Houston made changes and we didn't)... Don't want to say anything I will regret so here are a few quick notes:

1.) so Johns gets a personal foul for tapping someone on the shoulder?

2.) We need to ban the "Utah Pass" from our playbook, have we ever actually netted yardage from that play?

3.) I wish we have Shula back calling the plays :eek2:

4.) other than not being able to defend a pass, get pressure on the qb, wrap up a tackle, or stop the run, the defense looked good :(

Every game that depth really bites us in the rear on D.

I'll refrain from further comment on the offense and play calling.

whew is all I can say.

Bottom line is with real Alabama football we should be able to score 30 points and win handily. Our defense has to get better.
Look, no offense to you, but this is a nonstarter. We knew going into this season that D would be our weakness because of depth and talent issues. This defense has played above its head almost every week, but it **cannot** play 2/3 of the game and be able to stop anybody. This D won't get much better until the talent level increases.

The offense **must** figure out a way to control the ball and move the chains so that the defense can rest.

We can take NOTHING for granted with this team. The offense sometimes just goes away, and we will face several teams with much better defenses. From this point forward a one point win will be reason for celebration, regardless of the opponent.

FWIW, Wilson was throwing much better passes than GM during warm-ups.

I would agree if we scored during the entire game. When the O is ineffective for 3 quarters of the game you can’t blame the D. The O has to be able to score and eat up the clock. It's not the D that is holding the team back. Even with the crappy calls, we won. I fear for the rest of the season.

23 points in the 1st quarter...compared to 7 points the rest of the way...that is an "O" problem...not a "D" problem...the D is relied on too much...and to think the O was the strong point...i still would love to see a change at QB...i dont think it could be any worse...and who knows, it may be even better...look at Fl. State last week...and didnt houston change QB's this week also?? imagine that

If that's really the case, Earle, then I don't see us beating Ole Miss or MSU. :(

If that's really the case, then I can only see one more win (UL-Monroe), and it will be a close one.

I agree with Harmost. I've seen enough. It's time for QB change, coach.

in spite of the misques saban needs to be upbeat, its a win! we won be happy.
Saban needs to be the coach and change what made this game way too close to a loss. He definitely should not be happy with a win like that. I know I am not happy. lol

I agree about JPW. He just doesn't have an consistency...it's either all good or all bad. I was hoping McElroy would be put in on those last two series.

The odd thing is that i hardly remember when 30 points almost isnt enough to win the game

Im so confused by this team-- sometimes they play like some of the best teams in the sec-- and other times-- like Notre Dame

I dont think enough blame is being given to the defense-- I mean 30 points ought to be enough to blow out houston.

i guess im just too used to Alabama always having a good defense
