…If we are honest, I think most of the angst with Milroe’s play is not that he’s a “bad” QB. It’s that he’s not Tua, or Bryce, or Mac…
This I think is 100% incorrect. If he were a great guy who put the team first and just couldn’t produce on the field, the attitude toward him would be totally different. CF, Jalen Hurts in 2017 . Instead, we have a QB who most here believe (still not sure if it’s true or not) has held the team hostage to his business deal. That’s why he’s not liked…

Milroe and Sims were in the exact same situation in that not many believed in them because everyone saw their ceilings and floors, but they exceeded expectations. However neither won a NC. But the main difference is that Sims was all about winning and letting play define his legacy whereas Milroe comes across as someone that is fine with winning as long as it helps his own self value. Sims is beloved and Milroe is the most polarizing quarterback in Alabama history.

What Milroe says and does off the field makes him disliked. The vast majority of Alabama fans can deal with an average and just good enough quarterback. We stomached Jalen Hurts, JPW, Coker, and Sims with very little issues.

Milroe is at risk of occupying the same pantheon that Gene Jelks resides in as a player...

And Jimmy Johns doesnt even live there...

To reiterate, if Alabama cant beat their rival at home, even the slim chance at the playoff wont matter.

8-4, birmingham bowl might be cool though as a cheap way to watch the team play again this year.

Idk man, Coker was a heck of a player. I can’t remember him making any dumb decisions, and he certainly never LOST games for us like Milroe has. The TD he threw against the Barn where he evaded the rush and then scrambled to his right was an absolute DART to Stewart.
He played out of his mind in the 2015 CFBP too.

We don't beat Clemson without Coker.

Milroe isn't half the QB as Coker.

I would only put JM ahead of Woodson, Avalos, Gullion, Tucker. Literally, all the other QBs could have performed sufficiently with the same supporting cast.
I cut my proverbial Alabama football teeth in the nineties and early 2000s so maybe I’m biased, but I would personally rank Milroe above every QB that played for Dubose, and all of the Stallings-era QBs apart from Barker. I think he probably ranks below everyone else on the list (discounting Guillon and Avalos, who were easily the most inept UA quarterbacks I’ve ever seen and it’s not even remotely close).

Maybe some of those guys were better pre-snap but I think you also have to consider
productivity. Milroe has accounted for 32 overall touchdowns in 11 games this year, which is literally more than Freddie Kitchens accounted for in four seasons (grand total of 30, against 26 interceptions).

Not trying to rag on Kitchens or boost Milroe’s stock - we are all frustrated here - but I just don’t know if folks remember the level of ineptitude we’ve seen at the QB position in years past. I still agree with the overall point that he’s not the best fit for this offense and we will be likely better off when he moves on. It just feels like some folks think we’ve been trotting Avalos, or Guilon, or Kitchens out there for the last two years and that’s not remotely close to the truth. Milroe has made literally tons of plays and has been a very productive player overall. He’s just a flawed one and not nearly as good as his three direct predecessors.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned but did anyone else notice after JM's 2nd INT that he just didn't even attempt to tackle the guy at all? Am I missing something here? Dumbfounded and didn't notice during the game probably because I was having throwing a hissy fit.
Well, his QB play is right up there with his tackling.

Coker would have hospitalized the guy.
Coker dreamed of being an Alabama football player. He fought like hell to get to be the starter after major injury, an OC who didn’t believe in him, and disappointment. He was a winner, leader, team first guy, and a strong willed individual. He knew his limitations and knew he couldn’t do it alone. He did it for his dream, he did it for his team, and he did it for the script A.

I loved watching him throw the ball, especially deep passes.

What bothers most of us, I’m guessing, is not that Milroe isn’t great. It’s that he has held two coaches hostage who couldn’t replace him, no matter how selfishly or poorly he played. That’swhy I’m going to have to miss my first Iron bowl since the mid 60s.. Lank will Be not holding me hostage.
