This is one of the thing I whined about last night. If you know defense is showing seven in box, audible out of it. Call for quick slant pass.
Well, i question the ability of our QB to actual call an audible, and have we seen him actually throw a decent slant pass all year? The only audibles I've seen are when we get to the line, but then back off for a new call from the sidelines.

He is the most dangerous receiver in college right now. He only stays if he believe someone will be throwing to him a lot. Someone who can complete those passes.

It cannot help that DeBoer just threw the receivers under the bus to protect Milroe.
Someone in the administration needs to get some cash together and raise Williams NIL higher..........and have a sit down with DeBoer about his throwing the receivers under the bus. It makes me wonder if LANK made him an offer he couldnt refuse

Will he have a new QB next year? After last night's game, there is no way Milroe is drafted as anything other than a mid to late round QB. He would probably make more money in college.

I think he gets drafted maybe as the 4th best QB. Or maybe he transfers.... but I think Bama will have a different QB, maybe Ty or Austin Mack will start with Keelon Russell a quick learner and good backup.

It sucked how 2020 played out, because possibly Alabama’s best ever team had to play in a season full of cancellations, opt outs, and roster holes.

2020 Alabama might been the GOAT, but public consensus won’t accept that due to COVID-19.
Incorrect, everyone except some bitter LSU fans accept it just like any other year. After all by the middle of the year it looked like any other year of college ball. LSU fans were in a tizzy because Alabama one-upped their all-time great team the year after. As time passes, the fact that it was a COVID-year fades from memory and rightly so because it was a fully legitimate season and championship.

I think if Jalen gets drafted it will be 5th round or later, and it will be as an athlete, not as a QB.

Decent points if you weren’t mocking the GOAT…silly nicknames…silly is being nice.
Coach Nick Saban…
Saban has always said that “the team chooses the QB”, at least as far back as AJ vs Phillip Sims. Now it may have morphed in terms of what that means but he has always said that when there was a QB competition.

Looks like we dropped to #13 in both the new AP and Coaches Polls. I really thought we would be 15 or lower, so I guess that's a win!!! I really hope we show up for the Iron Bowl.
We will know on Tuesday for sure, but if Alabama is ranked 13 or higher in the next CFP rankings then a win over Auburn gets you into the CFP unless some weird stuff happens.

some thoughts around the interwebs

Alabama proving they cannot defend the same exact gameplan Vanderbilt ran offensively. Jalen Milroe is absolute cheeks against good defenses on the road. Nothing has changed there.” wrote @CFBNerds.
“Jalen Milroe is Lamar Jackson against UGA and LSU and DJ Uiagalelei against everybody else,” wrote @claybwells10.
“Jalen Milroe is NOT an NFL qb and idk why people ever acted like he was 😂😂” wrote @AidanLaPorta69.

To switch a gear for a moment: I was looking at the coaching staff and the support team:

Right now, We have as follow:

Shepard- WR
Gillespie-RB
Hitschler-Co DC/DB
Linguist -Co-DC/DB
Ellis-TE
Kapilovic-OL
Robinson-OLB
Nunez- Special assistant to HC/ ST Senior analyst.

Then you go to support staff section. We see Allen, Ballou,
McKeefery (Special assistant to HC),
Morgan -GM
Chuck Morrell- Special assistant to HC.

That caught me off guard. Why do we have three special assistants to HC?

The analysts for the teams are as followings:

Jamey Mosely– Football analyst

Mosley returns to the staff as an analyst. He played football at Alabama, winning national titles as a linebacker in 2015 and 2017.

Mitch Dahlen– Football analyst

Dahlen follows DeBoer to Tuscaloosa from Washington. He was an offensive quality control assistant for the Huskies.

He also worked for DeBeor at Fresno State. He played quarterback at Utah and Southern Utah.

Matt Shadeed– Football analyst

Shadeed comes to Alabama as an analyst after working under Wommack at South Alabama. He was assistant head coach and director of athletic performance for the Jaguars.

Other stops for Shadeed have included LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas State and Baylor.

Ryan Trevathan– Football analyst

Last season, Trevathan was working as the offensive coordinator for Northeast Mississippi Community College. Now, he’ll move up in program prestige as an analyst for Alabama.

Trevathan’s resume is dotted with junior college experience in the south. He also worked as a graduate assistant at Ole Miss

Kirk Barron– Football analyst

Barron’s social media lists him as working with the Crimson Tide’s offensive line. He played the position himself in college, as a two-time captain at Purdue.

Mark Sheridan– Football analyst

Sheridan is the brother of Alabama offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan. He previously worked at Virginia.

Why do we have six analysts on the staff?

I want to focus on this:
Hitschler-Co DC/DB
Linguist -Co-DC/DB

We've heard a lot from Linguist throughout the season, have we? We really haven't heard much from Hitschler. I'm willing to bet that Hitschler move on and Morrell slides into his position.

I think we will end up letting go almost all of the analysts and Mark Sheridan is one of them.
