Whew! I thought we'd drill Ole Sis, but give it to them they played with passion and intensity we seem to lack most of the time. We played hard in the 2nd half and the OT. We played poorly defensively in the 1st half. they were killing us on the base line drives.

We have to have more leadership if we are going anywhere this year.

They did not call a foul on them when we were around the basket unless it was Green shooting. Releford did not shoot a free throw until the 2nd OT I believe. There is an odd dynamic at work with the ref's and Grant and Bama. I am not sure how to solve it,but it is causing me not to enjoy going to games as much. The ref's have become such a big part of the deciding the game, it loses its appeal. I am very frustrated with the ways things are going right now.

I totally missed on my prediction for this game. I thought Bama would score in the mid-70's and Ole Miss around 60 (regulation of course; not OT). I should have realized Ole Miss is physical and Bama struggles against physical teams; especially when the refs allow all the pushing that Ole Miss does away from the ball (offense and defense).

Releford's hands are really quick and he gave the Ole Miss ball handler fits.

As stated already, the difference between a win and a loss in the 2-OT game was huge.

The next 2 games are huge. At Auburn and at LSU. We'll have to play better to win either 1.

I only got to watch the last 15 or so of regulation and the overtimes but I don't remember ever seeing Lacey in there. Was he just not on tonight or something? I did see he was involved on the bench and cheering on the team just never saw him on the floor.
He was benched for beating up the rim and mistreating the net. Seriously, it just wasn't his night and Hankerson was playing with a lot of energy.

last years team would have lost this game. our depth has become a strength. we go 11 deep and it showed in the 2nd overtime. Ole Miss ran out of gas and it showed. Regardless of our little hump i still like our chances if we can finish strong. I still would like to see better rebounding. On another note, once Cooper gets going he's going to light things up from 3. Just a matter of time. Hopefully this season

The best thing that came from tonight's game...the bench play, (particularly Hankerson), the effort in the second half, and we won. That's about all I saw that was good. If we start the game against Auburn like we did tonight...it'll be a long night. Just keep winnin'!!! RTR

In the post game Grant said that a player had knee surgery this past Monday. I was fighting traffic and the kids were bickering, so I didn't hear who it was. Did anyone catch which player it was?

On the play of Charles Hankerson tonight:
"He is coming off a knee surgery on Monday. He only had one day of practice and our medical staff did a great job. He played with great confidence and passion today. I thought he gave us a spark there on the offensive end, but gave us great effort and intensity on the defensive end as well."

Some where out there
Props to Green for stepping up big. Now, I just hope the guys can start knocking down some of those threes. You don't have to hit them all but some kind of outside shooting game is needed. Any win is a good win though, may not be pretty but definitely good. RTR

This was a good learning game for both of those guys. When tourney time comes, teams play harder and more physical. This is the time of year everyone needs to raise their game. Both will be more heavily relied here on out. Refs won't always bail you out with a call down low.

The only thing colder than Lacey last night is the weather in Eastern Europe! I know he was highly rated but, he needs to get his butt in the gym b/c his shooting is bad! His form seems to have deteriorated as the season goes on... Do we not have a 'shooting' coach? He could sure as heck use one!

As previously noted, a gritty performance last night. A long stretch where nothing was going our way, least of all anything from the zebras. At halftime the fouls called were 10-3 against us. As Chris Stewart once said; "we're getting clubbed like seal pups out here and can't get a call." Eh, regardless, our guys kept working hard and found a way to win a big game. A big game from Green, better play from Mitchell, meaningful minutes from Gueye, some timely points from Hank. I've become as big an Andrew Steele fan as there is, he is the difference in our team, he is supplying that missing something we've been looking for. If we can carry this forward to the next two road games, there are still good times ahead for this team.

And Coach Grant, I'm crazy about this guy. I really enjoy watching him work. He never loses focus. Yes, he got a technical last night, but it came at a time that required him to stand up for his team and things began to change at that moment. There have been posts about him and a hot seat, to that I say: go to a game and watch this guy, I don't think you can get a full appreciation for him only from television, he is incredible. I'm glad we have him on our bench.

Next victim, the barn...

No! Last year we didn't lose any home games.

I've noticed that a different guy steps up almost every game. Seems like "it" clicks for that player on that particular night. No telling what this team could do if "it" clicked for everyone at the same time. That is what would put us in the tournament on a hot streak and the ability for a long run.
