There were so many ways we got beat tonight, I don't even know where to begin. This was probably the worst game JPW played all year, we got lucky he only had 2 picks. I know he was getting chased around all night, but it still wasn't his greatest performance.

This was a bad, bad, bad loss. . .

Our DB's couldn't make adjustments at all. #88 was an All-American tonight. Our safeties, corners, linebackers, just wow. . .

We couldn't get pressure consistently, our linebackers weren't calling for the correct adjustments, or audibiling to the right aligments. Our offense couldn't block, JPW couldn't stop looking at Julio. Any way you slice it, we were horrible.

Anyone think that Utah should be ranked #1.

Some are gonna call me crazy, gut YES! My hats off to those guys. I don't care what conference they are in they are 13-0 and the only 13-0 team in the country. They dominated us tonight. I am a believer.

Bama is on it's way back. I love this team. Looking forward to the Army All Star game tomorrow. We need another Julio on this team. More Donta Hightowers, more contributors. So come on guys, come to Alabama.

Alabama had a great season. It is hard to get ready to play Utah. But Utah exposed the need we have for pass rush, pass blocking, and more than one receiver. Utah played great, I never would have thought they would have moved the ball like they did.

When I heard about the Andre suspension, I had a feeling our OL would have a problem with their speed. Then Johnson went down and we were behind the 8 ball offensively.

They hit us hard and quick and we could not recover. Congrats to Utah.

Oh, and I am sure I'll get a time out for this, but while I am thankful for JPW's contribution I haven't been this glad to see a player graduate since Spencer Pennington. I can count on one hand (even if I had lost all of my fingers) the number of times he looked off a defender tonight.
I heavily congratulate him on graduating. That's all I'll say.

Can we not ban any UTES for coming over and razzing us? I feel like we all underestimated them, and I think we deserve it. Clearly, the team (and, it seems, even CNS) underestimated these guys, and they flat out exposed us tonight. They pulled down our pants and whipped our little hineys. Maybe I'm speaking for myself about the underestimating...

Please ban any and all Barners, though...

I think we exposed ourselves. As someone stated in another post, this showed what could have/would have happened earlier in the season with one suspension/injury, etc. on the o-line. We were fortunate to get out.

Sidebar: I'm looking at Ronnie Burns, Coach Burton Burns's brother, and there's a strong resemblance. Back to the point.

We played flat all night tonight. They didn't make many mistakes. We made several mistakes. I'm more embaressed than anything about this game, but I'm incredibly proud of the way our young men handled themselves over this season as a whole. RTR!!

Congrats to Utah. Obviously they came ready to play and obviously we missed Andre Smith a lot more than we would have wished. This also underscores why we need play makers like Richardson and Randle and how we need to shore up that offensive line next season.

Nevertheless, I am pleased with the road Coach Saban has us on. We'll get there. Yes, it's depressing to end on a low note, but it gives us areas we can concentrate on next season.

I am happy with 12-2.... this year. We played a little over our head most of the year. Utah played better and deserved to win. We never got real pressure on their QB and they were all over ours all night. Jackson didn't have a real good night tackling either. We will only get better thought. RTR

As angry as we are, we cannot forget this team was only supposed to be 7-5 or 8-4. They exceeded everybody's expectations. I know they exceeded mine. We dodged the injury bug for most of season and caught a lot of breaks. Take Andre's situation, coupled with the other OTF situations, and this really shouldn't be too surprising. I personally think the team had the air let our of their tires after losing to UF. That and a no-win game against Utah.

Oh well, we only get better from here. Here's to many more BCS games!

Not to mention we just went through an entire season of having every ball bounce our way and having NO injuries. Both of which caught up to us in this game, we got banged up, the ball never bounced our way. I mean wow, just wow. . .

Anyone think that Utah should be ranked #1.
Not without playing Florida first.

This is why you need a playoff. IMO, the division 1 college football postseason is the biggest lie in the history of lies. True #1 teams are determined in a playoff system. Look at the NCAA Tournament, the NFL Playoffs, and the NCAA Division 2 & 3 playoffs (the perfect example of WHY Division 1 needs a playoff).

In any other sport, becoming #1 is a journey. In division 1 football, it's merely a gift from voters to their favorite team.

This was not the same Alabama team we have seen all season. We lacked the physical play that we saw in all of our previous games....multiple open field tackles missed.

JPW is a quarterback that did not lose games for us this year, but he is not the guy to win them (minus Clemson and UGA).

There we calls that the coaching staff made that I really did not get. Bama did not pass like we did tonight all season long. Our offensive game plan had me saying WTH????

For instance, why did it take the staff until we were behind 21-0 to figure out we could not sit there and give Brian Johnson all day to pass and to pressure him? I figured it out at 7-0.

Great overall season! WAAAAY ahead of schedule...We were operating on a very thin margin to begin with (in terms of depth). The game may have been lost, but the process continues. Just a couple of years away - Thank you Coach Saban for getting us back to national prominence.

God Bless The University of Alabama - RTR!! :BigA:

If all the other team's fans knew that we did not have our all star LT and lost the LT that replaced him, or at least if I gave them football knowledge for knowing this who called my phone tonight. I would not take it as bad. I think the people calling the game every 30 sec. should have stated "you know Alabama is not the same team with A. Smith out, and M. Johnson now hurt" but the only ones that really know are Bama Fans. Plus the fact that 21-0 does hurt a running team and a QB that has thrown how many TDs this year, Sorry just upset.

I credit it mostly to a makeshift OL, which they took max advantage of. The rest of it is that our guys aren't used to playing against that type of offense. On defense, it's ironical that UF has a very similar offense, and yet we played them more strongly. The distractions definitely didn't help - losing Andre' and then MJ on top of it hurt badly, but give them credit, they grabbed the advantage and ran...
  1. The shakeup at OL like you said
  2. UF ran the ball a lot more. I have to wonder if they had just passed the whole game if it would have been as close, after seeing the game tonight.

Utah came into this game with something to play for, respect and national recognition. We came into this game (apparently) with nothing to play for and spent the first 15 minutes of game time mired in a daze. I lay that at the coaches feet. The team just wasn't into this game from the beginning.

That said I'm proud of them and the season they had. There are good things ahead for Alabama and it will be a fun ride the next few years.

Congratulations to Utah, you're a fine team and you whipped our tails tonight.
More like the first 8 minutes. After that, I was for the most part pretty pleased with our Defense. If our Offense had been able to do something, we very well could have won the game, IMO.

You're exactly right, if I had been told we would finish the season 12-2, I'd have been ecstatic.

Great win Utes. At least you live halfway across the country. . .

Overall I'm pleased with 12-2, but I was not pleased with the way the team and the coaches handled, or more to the point, did not handle the distractions tonight. No doubt that Utah deserved to win this game, but we did not show up and play the kind of football that we are capable of. That's what makes this loss so much worse to me.
