Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
I was just a second string high school football player, but tell me.....has anyone ever heard of running a screen play to beat the blitz every once in a while when you need to pick up a few extra yards to set up a field goal??
Problem with screens is that they can very much be boom or bust. Would look bad losing a couple of yards within reasonable FG range.

Question I haven’t seen answered. Why did only 1 second run off the clock on our 3rd down play before the missed FG? Not sure I’ve ever seen a play only take 1 second…

A very frustrating game. Penalties, strange play calling, the refs, missed FG, and mental blunders - yet it was a game we could (should) have won.

It stings and it’s bitter but dang if we don’t still control our destiny. That’s all I could ask for.

Time to get straightened out and buckle down - let’s go win 8 in a row.

Understand that it is very possible that Alabama could still win it all this year AND while Saban slips a bit. You have far more talent than any other team in college football.
On paper. That “talent” is not showing its appraised level in games. Why is the question, and that has to be directed at CNS. He claims they practiced well (he doesn’t always do that) and they show up at game time not ready to play. Again, why? Ultimately, motivation is on him; all the assistants teach them how to play and what to do (he is hands on in this), but getting their mindset in the right place is his job; HC is the motivator. The imbalance of penalties aside, false starts and motion penalties are discipline penalties and Bama has them every game- more than one or two, even at BD (I know it was loud yesterday).
Simply put - these “talented” athletes, supposedly the best of the best, just ain’t. Period. You have to prove it on the field and as a team (two players won’t get it, has to be 22) they are failing to do that.

It is technically “brass tacks”. It comes from the furniture industry. The final detail was adding the polished, finishing tacks made of brass. So in other words “the final details”.

However it has been used by some in the financial sector as “brass tax”. - the final elements in a pending business deal.
Under Saban it used to be known at 'Bama as the "Make their brass quit tax" but it's been unceremoniously repealed by Golding's supersoft defense and OL comfort zone cosplay

Hmmm.

That gets me wondering. A poster on this thread earlier mentioned NIL causing issues.

I have noticed so much "look at me" behavior after a player (all CFB) makes a great play. Maybe these kids are trying too hard to "create" NIL value for themselves at the expense of their teammates.

The dumb penalties are what we saying is a lack of discipline. Kids that are show-boating and drawing attention to themselves aren't team players and THAT attitude is detrimental to team discipline.

Just rambling, but maybe I am onto something here...or not.🤔
I don’t know anything about NIL. In the Saban approach you break down whatever it is you’re doing (in life, not just football) into small steps and you perform every step with everything you’ve got. No step is more important than any other step in your “Process” of accomplishing your goals. Winning a National Championship literally starts with lining up correctly the first play of the first game. The next step is remembering the snap count, and so on and so forth until the end of the play. I think these guys have seen so much success that they don’t necessarily focus on the little things, and that has turned into big problems.

Pretty disappointing to see the loss. We played badly, and we have played not a lot better much of the season. I expect that position changes are made in-season to step up what we are doing on both sides of the ball. After the season, it’ll likely be time to make coordinator changes all around. Roll Tide, and let’s get the Bulldogs next Saturday.

Look on the bright side, we've all wanted BOB to call the toss sweep etc in certain situations. He finally did, never mind that we were on our own 10 yard line and it was to the short side of the field 🤪 🤪 🤪

I realize the outside perception is that we are all delusional BAMA fans, but with arguably one of the worst secondaries in college football, statistically speaking not making a personal attack or criticizing, that they pretty much played man a majority of the time, blitzing often, and they had 1 pass interference and 1 holding call? We had 2 on their tying drive at pivitol times key 3rd and 4th down incomplete passes, one rather late call not even by the ref watching the play.

Also, they had zero face masks, hands to the face, late hits, and I am not sure but I do not recall them having any offensive holding calls? Does anyone have a breakdown of their 5 penalties, points in the game etc? RTR

I’m not singling you out, but I am going to ask a question to everyone on this board:

How in the world is Pete Golding still the defensive coordinator for the best program in college football? Regardless of how horrible BOB is, even a semi-competent DC should be good enough to win every game on our schedule. We have the best defensive players in the country. This simply cannot be allowed.
This, unfortunately, is not correct. We have a defensive line that lacks speed and can't consistently pressure the quarterback. (Yesterday, they got knocked off the ball on running plays, too) We have inside linebackers who can't blitz, frequently are undisciplined, and are not effective dropping into pass coverage. Meanwhile, short of Koolaid, our defensive backs, particularly the safeties, aren't fast enough to guard talented receivers. Even our strongest position group, Will and company, got stoned on Saturday by a big, fundamentally sound offensive line.

Our own OL is improved by not dominating. Most of our receivers lack speed. What we have is a transcendent quarterback and RB covering many of our holes.

Coaches can teach better discipline and bring about some improvement, but we're seeing the same problems from the same players for at least two years running, and much of it has to do with physical ability. They are who they are. Thankfully, the same goes for Bryce.

If you can't understand why they deserve this and far worse, I really can't say anything to change that. Alabama fans did not hate TN until Fulmer arrived. It was a rivalry built on mutual respect.

Fulmer changed that forever.
100%. I looked at that 15 years in purgatory for TN as just desserts for their little “streak” they had going against us from 1995-2001. They beat us again in 2003 and 2004. And again, in the most questionable game before tonight, in 2006. And that was the end of it. They even hung on to Fulmer through 2008. He and Tuberville both benefitted from the darkest period in Alabama football since the early to mid 1950’s. And Fulmer single handedly attempted to shutter our program. The officiating tonight brought all of those bad memories back.

what impressed me most was TN tackling .. it was outstanding kind of like Georgia.

bama has been tackling lousy for few years now

Also their secondary did not look like #119 ranked either.

What impressed me most about Bama was that Latu and company did not have their normal drops plus WR came down with some impressive catches except the TD I think hit ground.
