"An incoming legal substitute must enter the field of play directly from his team area, and a substitute, player or departing player must depart at the sideline nearest his team area and proceed to his team area. A departing player must immediately leave the field of play, including the end zones. A departing player who leaves the huddle or his position within three seconds, after a substitute becomes a player, is considered to have left immediately.

Substitutes who become players (Rule 2-27-9) must remain in the game for at least one play and replaced players must remain out of the game for at least one play, except during the interval between periods, after a score, or when a timeout is charged to a team or to the referee with the exception of a live ball out of bounds or an incomplete forward pass (A.R. 3-5-2:III and VII)"

Bama had 12 on the field with no one departing.
So, apparently the ball doesn't have to be snapped for this to be a penalty. My thought is we were not given enough time to notify Waddle to leave the field as he's 40-50 yards down the field. My opinion is the rule needs a little tweaking. It's one thing when all of the players are in the same general area, but when you have an isolated player way down the field, ie for a punt return, there should be a little extra time to make sure he knows to leave the field. Waddle's 50 yards downfield and probably didn't even know what was going on.

How did we let To’o (I think that’s it) get to Tennessee?

Among other misses the last two years in recruiting compound by injuries this year. Great to get 4-5 star players. Better to get them when and where you need them.

I am beginning think talent and recruiting stars are overrated. Would we be better off with 3-4 star recruits who want to play for Alabama than just using us as a stepping stone to the NFL?
That would be great if you want to be Missouri! Look at the recruiting rankings for the last 30 years and see which teams win the title. There's kind of a correlation...

Oh yeah! Forgot about him!

So that's 4 that we've whiffed on. And it's simple. Pruitt is a better recruiter and talent evaluator than some on our staff. As is Cristobal. We lost out on Thibedeaux to him.

It helps when we have them both on our staff....Tosh too. So we lose 3 ace recruiters in the span of 3-4 years. It begins to show when you don't fill those gaps.

How did we let To’o (I think that’s it) get to Tennessee?

I think Saban’s defense is too tough to learn for most players. Those who get it are great and those who don’t are just those that look like Greek Gods and are as lost as a blind pirate commanding a ship. Point is we need to get players that are capable of picking up his system fast to have a great defense.

No. After “sufficient” time to substitute, any more than 11 players “in formation” constitutes a penalty. Ball doesn’t need to be snapped.

Saban’s point was they weren’t given “sufficient” time to get Waddle off the field.

The dynasty died against Clemson

It was buried against LSU

Tonight the corpse was exhumed and desecrated.

The program needs more than a tweak here or there. It needs an overhaul (again). I don’t have faith that that’ll get done. Bama will be a top 5 program for the next few years but it is not feared and hasn’t been for a while. The team is undisciplined and sloppy. When is the last time the team showed up for a big game and looked focused for 60 minutes against a team with a pulse?
Is this proper, or Collin Cowherd? Dead, buried? I guess CNS is a pile of crap right? “Coach”

This one is tougher for me take than 2013 or even 2010. It could be argued that Auburn truly had the better team both of those seasons. However, the narrative that Gus and Auburn can only win with a miracle is over. Gus has schooled Nick 2 times in a row now at JHS, both times with inferior teams. Let that sink in for a minute.

Having a talent like Tua covered up some problems. Working Tua the dynasty would have been dead years ago. Tua covered up some blemishes. Tonight, for example, would have been a 14-21 point victory if Tua was playing.

There are no Tua’s on the roster anymore.

What exactly is the “dynasty”? I’ve never really been able to get a handle on when that begins and ends. If it’s winning a national title every other year, then perhaps it’s over, but I don’t think even the most optimistic fan can think that’s a legitimate expectation regardless of how good we think we should be. Certainly not in a year that we’ve been as descimated with injuries as we have. I know other teams deal with injuries, but I’ve certainly never seen it the level we have dealt with this year.

And Bama fans living in Georgia usually do NOT pull for UGA under any circumstances.
I think part of the problem is that on the defensive side of the ball is that we have guys that just don’t play the game “between their ears”. The guys that could (McMillon, Mosley, Ray, etc) went out early. It was like time and time again the team could get lined up defensively. The Barn two point conversion NO ONE shifted over into coverage. Inexcusable!

I could excuse Lee and Harris early in the year, but when your filling the wrong gap consistently on runs and allowing RB’s to spring long runs, you need to work on your gray matter. And Benton and Kaho, guys with more experience and maturity doing the same...that is coaching.
Or both lb's taking the same gap on that zone read play....

The dynasty lives as long as Alabama remains in the hunt for national championships every year. You were this year. You will be again next year.

Tua is a generational talent. He’d make any team in the country 3 TD’s per game better. If he’s healthy all year, we are West champs and rated #1. Let’s just run CNS out of town. Who will we get that’s better? You?
