Wherever Gene Stallings was last night he was smiling. That was a 1992 Bama game if I ever saw one. I was 13 that year. I was already a Bama fan, my dad raised me right, but that team made me love Bama football on a different level. This years defense should make every Bama fan proud. Some fan bases want to score a ton of points. I want to throw shut outs.

Now that I am "retired..." I can get up on a Sunday and read the entire post-game thread. You all had quite a good discussion going on about domination, penalties and AG's kicking. My 2 cents worth:

1. Field position, LSU's good athletes on Defense and good plan thwarted us for a half. Add in some questionable play calling...but LK is way ahead of me. I do think running inside and wearing them down helped considerably. BS was on a tear...

2. Penalties played no role...the ref's were really quite reserved and let us play. Yes, they missed some calls -- always do. They also saw one that didn't happen...RP on the goal line. Such is life.

3. We dominated defensively...but so did they for 2 quarters. We missed some golden opportunities in the 3rd that could have come back to bite us. Our OL did not have their best game...but LSU had a lot to do with that.

4. I am glad that LSU had their defensive game plan...and we got to see it early. I can assure you we will see such strategy again...like this week??? AU???

5. I hope 'Sip wakes up in a better mood...
Padre, I was in a great mood last night. I was very happy with the win.
I made a simple statement that we were fortunate to win, and for whatever reason, a bunch of folks took that as me saying we were lucky and jumped all over me. Not what I meant at all. All I was saying is that it was a very difficult game and we were fortunate enough to play well enough to win, because, unlike a lot of people around here, I'll give the other team credit when they deserve it, and LSU's defense was incredible against us for most of the entire game.
It was not an easy game at all to win and the outcome was in doubt until Jalen scored with just a few minutes left. As far as the domination issue, I really don't care what the statistics were. The truth is that LSU was in the game until deep in the fourth quarter, and, until Jalen scored, they could have won the game by either us making one bad play, or them making one great one. I'm sorry, but to me, and this is my opinion and my opinion only, that's not dominating your opponent. That's beating them, but not dominating them. Our defense was dominant. Our total team wasn't. We were good enough overall to win and I'm glad we did.
Finally, There's nothing wrong with me thinking, "Great game and we were fortunate enough to win it".
If that insults a certain group, then so be it. That wasn't the intention in any way at all.

Some of the cleaner comments from the LSU board.

Camera made it look like theres a huge section thats empty in the stadium
Uh ... the band is on the field for pregame.
The whining started early, complaining about empty seats, and never let up.

DACOACHO playing 6D intergalactic chess, baited Saban into an incomplete pass to hurt their stat line
On Hurts' pass with :01 to end the half.

I'm so worried that there will be a critical 3rd and medium for Alabama and Hurts will scramble for the first down and we will be demoralized. Alabama will then go score and the final score will be something like 10-3 or 7-3.

Here's some sign language, Eagle Scout
Some player abuse, flipping double birds when their own QB Etling was named Scholar Athlete.

Oh wait, this means we have to send our offense back out....
Someone disappointed after Hurts' fumble :D

Should we punt here, pin them inside the 5, and then play for the safety?
And someone worried

2 vs 1 is offsetting what the
How does 3 Alabama penalties and 1 LSU penalty offset. That bugs me a lot
How in the ---- does 4:1 offset?
lol

Miles has lost control.
double lol

I feel like we have lost the momentum there

We lost the momentum when we have started 2 drives at their 30 and scored on neither.
I've never seen a 0-0 score in the fourth quarter in my life.

The tone took a turn for the worse after Jalen's TD.

NO HOLDING CALL?!
You stupid ----- yell holding after every ------ play. The only ones call for holding is you. Shut the ----- up

At least lsu didnt get embarrassed

Every time the offense stepped on the field has been an embarrassment

now comes the stampede to the lots

Don't think we'll score. Sound machine bama hears our plays with is working too good.
I see the flag on a late hit results in bamas score. Refs doing their job for the sec

On Minkah's interception:

Hit the ground...easy call. I don't know what Gary is looking at
Lol you morons need glasses if that was a LSU player it would be a pick but yea REC
Refs bias is horrible after the Florida bs I would talk to other Conferences

its a one score game
Score is the key word here.

Travonte Valentine is a no tackling blob
Then later...
Coach O needs to be gone for not putting in Valentine. Gilmore is getting owned
lol

Put in Harris now and let him run on their tired d
Another ------- shutout looming
If you had told me we hold Bama to 14 points, I'd say we had a really good shot.

In fact, we had 0 shot. This offense is embarrassing. I don't care what your job is. If you brought water to this offense, you're fired after this year
It was 3rd and 15 coming out of a TO. Gassed ain't a good enough excuse.
Lsu defense should not be gassed, Alabama defense was on the field just as much and they don't seem to be that tired. Alabama just the better team right now. We need a new offensive minded coach to go with Aranda.
Gassed is a pretty good excuse when you won the turnover war tonight.

Learn how football works, bro.
Oline should buy the defense Texas de Brazil as an apology
Just need to get 7 points, a onside kick recover, and a field goal to tie or a td to win all within under 3 minutes
With Hurts there for 2 more years, realistically when will we beat Bama again?
Fournette's legacy died with Bama
Our entire staff and team are scared of the Crimson Tide.
ufc is live on fs1
How did ole Miss score 40+ back to back times in this team?
I'll give it to the D. Jumped the gun there. I just can't believe how similar different guys play year after year in this game. Terrified.

I agree...LSU is a very talented team who was highly motivated. Our OL could not block them consistently for almost 3 quarters. I was needling you...

I do wonder why LK took so long to adapt to what they were doing. I thought we should have run straight at them long before we did.

Everybody can see that apparently except for LK is the only explanation I can come up with. It will come back to bite us eventually in a game.

It did once before in 2014, in the playoff. Henry was killing us and we had no answer - except for Kiffin's play calling.

People have to watch that game to really appreciate how dominate it was to win 10-0. Problem is a lot of people won't.
I will watch the full game again tonight. This time without having to peak between my fingers [emoji23] .

My feeling live was that the team that scored 1st would win.

It may appear more comfortable than it felt on replay but at 0 v 0 in the 4th I don't think we can claim dominant. Like v aTm we could probably have made better decisions and had more points but LSU played one hell of a game on defence.

It was just their bad luck that they choose to do it on the same night as Bama's D decided to be flawless.

Reminded you of the other football I bet. This is how almost all football games used to be and even more so in the sec. I loved it personally.

Myfirst post on this board was a week after the kick 6 iron bowl.

A game I sat down to watch hoping for a Barn win but ended up devastated that Bama had lost - and I had no idea of the relative histories of the two programs at the time (not a glory hunting follower from abroad
).

A never knew why my mind changed mid-game, normally when I've made up my mindits set for ever, right or wrong.

I think I know now, 3yrs later, it was the play style, Bama played and still play what I considered proper football. And Bama stayed classier indefeat than the Barn managed to in victory.

Sat night was one of the best I've seen since I started watching college ball, nerve shredding, gut wrenching, heart pounding adrenaline, will against will. Simply fantastic.

I'd watch one of those over any amount of 56 - 21 games.

Domination to me would be the USCw and Tennessee games. Both teams played a helluva of defensive game, our offense was just enough better to win.

I agree. You can show me all the stats you want, but it was scoreless in the fourth quarter and we only won by ten points. One fluke play by LSU and it is a different ball game.

And if AG made a FG in the first half...

Or if Alabama scores at the one yard line to start the third....

Their offense had nothing against Alabama. Against any other defense, LSU easily wins with their defensive performance. Too bad they were facing arguably the best defense in the nation Saturday.

I am afraid it is going to happen in the Iron Bowl. The AU D is no slouch. They have enough luck left in them to do on offense what LSU could not the other night.
