I get home from church and check the score and find this. I think any leftover good will just evaporated.

We just had a player on a team rated by Ken Pomeroy at 265 and the 32nd overall seed in the NiT basically calling out players as apathetic and without heart.

If that doesn’t say this program has problems, I don’t know what does.

my thoughts as well.. i havent followed them much lately but they use to have a great home atmosphere and usually played tough at home. ISU isnt a tough place to win

I posted this in another thread but since this is the official postseason thread:

What makes Prohm such a promising prospect? I'm underwhelmed with his record but don't know the specifics. ISU was 4-14 in the Big 12 last season and 9-9 this seasons. They have been to the NCAA 3 of 4 so maybe that is enough. Though he also, probably, inherited a decent team at ISU (Murray State as well).

C. Cost effectiveness - he currently makes $2m a year. (Nearly a full million below what Avery made this year) Between Saban’s contract, the general apathy towards basketball from the big boosters who control the purse, and Avery’s buyout of $8m, they aren’t going to write the check needed to get a proven elite coach. Since Prohm has university ties, he’d be more likely to make the move for less than many others in his position.

If going with he will come cheap, why not give it to Pettway? He could be had for less than $2MM. Let him be a Shula like caretaker for 2-3 years. At that point the Coleman renovation is done and we would likely have a better shot at boosters opening their checkbook to pay $7-$8 MM a year to go after a big name proven coach.

Let’s be realistic. A coach whose team plays hard and makes an NCAA tournament 3 out of 10 years and wins a game in the tournament once a decade will have a lifetime job. We will never be a program that will make the tourney more than 30% of the time.

I like Kira as a player, but that’s just an idiotic thing to say.

I might be okay with this take if the team had performed well every other home game, but they pulled this same crap pretty much every home game since Kentucky. It takes a massive lack of maturity and situational awareness for a 17 year old to be calling out the fan base after the effort of the last 11 games.

Did the team tank on purpose to get rid of Avery?

I had to take several deep breaths before coming on here to comment so as not to get permanently kicked off.
Just bad. This goes beyond a team disappointed at not making the NCAA tournament. The team quit. Now, why they quit may be subject for debate but that they quit is indisputable.
CAJ needs to be sent packing. I do not dislike him as a person but I just do not believe he has it in him to coach on this level. It appears he cannot coach fundamentals and cannot get this team to play with any kind of consistency. That's a lack of coaching.
Point # 2: If the UofA is gonna make a commitment to basketball then they absolutely need to tear down Coleman and start over and upgrade facilities. Quit putting lipstick on a sow.
If you're not gonna make a commitment then hire someone like me to be the coach. I'd be more than willing to be mediocre or bad for less than a million a year. But don't make a half hearted commitment.

I hope he grows up a little by next year. Great player and team will likely feed off of Lewis as he becomes THE experienced point guard.
Me too. He has the potential to be really special. Honestly, I hope whoever our new coach is send Reese, Pettty, and Mack packing. I saw enough of Petty and Mack not caring tonight. Reese IMO has been a cancer all year which is why he kept his butt on the bench several games this year.

I’d be fine having Lewis, Smith, Jones the 3 guys coming in as our core 6. Bring in 5 grad transfers / use walkons to fill out the roster. I’d rather go 0-18 like Vandy did this year than deal with the crap we saw this year.

Speaking for the crowd, it's kinda hard to get up for a home team that's gonna turn the ball over with soul stealing regularity, shoot free throws like 4th graders and rebound like the other team has cooties.
