Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno fired!

For someone who claims he was a father figure and above all teacher to his players, he knew better. Joe Pa in my book is no better than Sandusky b/c he could have done something about it and chose not to... A real man/father/teacher would have stood up for the kids.

At the end of the day he has to live with what he did and above all explain it before GOD.

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

Just read and saw where mayhem broke out last night near Beaver stadium, with mostly Penn State students throwing bottles at police and rioting ostensibly in Joe Pa's defense....Are these kids really that ignorant of what has happened or are they simply a bunch of heartless ghouls?

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno fired!

Was just listening to Mike and Mike on the way to work. They were talking about an interview with Paul Posluszny that they just did. He was a player whose entire time at PSU was after the 2002 incident. Posluszny said that Sandusky was on campus a lot for his "charity work". And this was a charity where Sandusky came in contact with young boys all the time. The fact that this was allowed to happen after Joe Pa and others knew about the incident is reason enough to fire him.

I will definitely check out the Posluszny interview in its entirety once ESPN puts it online.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

No comment on the biggest freakin' case to hit in my lifetime.....

Good job NCAA. You make me about as sick as Sandusky and company do. Pathetic!
Other than something like "we're praying for the victims", they shouldn't comment on this one.

As the link says, this is a serious criminal investigation. Any potential conference/NCAA issues pale in comparison.

Would the conference or NCAA do anything. Can they do anything?

Penn state's rep is ruined. Kind of sad. And I really hate to see this happen to end Joe pa's long and historic career.

For starters, the Big 10 could take Paterno's name off their conference championship trophy.

if this turns out to be true along with what I'm hearing locally regarding victim #2 this nation will be in complete shock and, hopefully, State Penn athletics shut down forever.

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno fired!

The posts on twitter this morning are alluding to the investigation going into pimping of young boys to wealthy donors there. I believe this is what SBB was cautioning about last night. I pray this is not true, the situation is ugly enough.

WEEI out of Boston is reporting this also.

The guy that was on WEEI wrote this column in APRIL!!!!

Oh man, just when you thought it couldn't get worse.

This is one of the worst things I've ever heard, literally.

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno fired!

Wow...I only started reading this last night (other than blurps here & there). It almost seems to me the PSU BOT may have saw some even deeper stuff there in regards to how much the PSU staff (including Paterno) and admin was complicit in or or just handled inappropriately, that may not be public yet so they didn't have a choice.
Gah, this whole situation is just ugly ugly. Sick and ugly.

One byproduct of all this may be that the Congress will seize the opportunity to jump into the middle and "fix" things...

Re: Penn State Officials Reportedly Planning Paterno's Exit

This is what I think & really do not care what everybody else thinks! Joe knew & told the officals above him what else is he suppose to do? It was out of his hands...Go to the police? Well GEEE! What the President was suppose to do? But instead they make Joe the bad guy & just blast him to ruin his coaching career. The main stream media making a field day on him is just wrong! I am behind the students fliping the news van as an outrage which is wrong but firing Joe is more wrong. They already got the man in jail why they not keep going after them? Can anybody tell me that? Now ain't that ironic? Instead they keep going after Joe but to me they just want to ruin someone who is famous. That ticks me off!

Good Lord, help us all if that happens. Will it be similar to the health care fix, the way they run the post office, VA Affairs, etc.? Sorry to be so cynical and I see your sarcasm with the"fix," but I can also see them trying to "help."

I understand Joe's decision to send the decision up the chain to someone less close to Sandusky.

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno fired!

My understanding is that McQueary did later report it to the police, though they did nothing about it, so under PA law, he can't be fired for this.

He's still a cowardly dirtbag, but that's why he's still there from what I've been told...
Yeah he won't be fire, yet, but if I am McQueary I would not get comfortable. In fact I would be update the ole resume, cause I doubt he'll be staying at PSU when they bring in a new head coach and I doubt he'll get another D1 school job due to his role in the contrevery. McQueary seems destined to end up at a D3, middle of nowhere school if he wants to continue coaching.

Just a shame what they did to Joe. At least let him finish.
No. I hate to say it but Paterno deserved to get fired and he mostly certainly did not earn the right to "finish the right way."

Sorry pal, but there's a moral responsibility here that stuff like this must be stopped by whatever means necessary. If it meant beating Sandusky to a pulp and tar and feathering him, so be it. JoePa should have notified the local District Attorney himself and if he got no action there because of local homerism, go to the feds. If no luck with the feds, find some means of doing the job yourself. No excuse for the pathetic lack of action on this. None. Paterno's failure erases anything good he ever did, in my book. Even murderers in prison think that this is the lowest crime of all. That's why child molesters don't live very long in prison.

So you see a child being raped at work and you tell your boss. Months and years later you still see the bastard who did this still at work everyday with you. You are ok with this? You could sleep at night? Whatever
