The good news - whoever comes in will be running the same plays. Saban now has all of those play books. Saban now understands how they are designed, and what they are designed to do to defenses. He is not going to bring in a guy and start running an inferior set of plays.

Now, to find the right guy to call the right play at the right time.
I don’t think that works. Whomever Saban hires should have a similar offensive philosophy, but they’ve got to come with their own playbook, which I’m sure they will. Having a playbook that you aren’t deeply involved with designing just seems like a recipe for disaster.

When Sarkisian took over as the OC for the Falcons, he was asked to run Kyle Shannahan’s offense and plays, not his own. It failed miserably. He gets to Alabama and he’s an offensive genius again running his own offense.

I think it be a great slap in the face to LSWho if we went after Joe Brady and brought him back to college. Kinda like CNS did you them.

Don’t do it Sark! Peel away the onion and see the darkness that is Texas alum/boosters! This job is not good for your mental health
Coaches worth their salt have ambition. Sark is no different. But gosh, everybody that keeps up with college football knows that UT is a next to impossible situation for a head coach. As you said, the Texas alum/boosters have their hands all over that team and a coach has to spend too much energy addressing these people and trying to appease them. I hope Sark can handle all those distractions. Walking that tightrope is so tough. If he can't, he will be gone in three or four years. UT has destroyed the careers of several good coaches in recent years.

Well, Tennessee got Texas' good Basketball coach. They may FIRE Pruitt and go after Herman.
I think Herman got exposed for what he really is and that's a very good OC and probably a good coach at a mid major program. The guy turned me off when ESPN did a segment on him and it was revealed he literally tucked his players in at night and kissed them. That's not the signs of someone who can handle running a big time P5 program. I feel the same way about PJ Fleck. As a matter of fact, Herman reminds me a lot of Fleck. They're better off as big fish in small ponds.

I think Sark will do well in Texas. He is a great recruiter and has a better track record of developing QBs over his predecessor. I know its sacrilege to mention Mike Shula but he would likely do well as just an OC. Developing QB's was never his issue it was running a full team which includes the defense was his problem. Its not going to happen but wouldn't it be a redemption story for the ages. Heck he got Cam Newton to the super bowl. Cam has never had another good season with out Shula. Again I know its never going to happen but you know he would be all in and I think would keep the ball rolling.

Many who know the situation, including UT fans, will tell you the same thing. Until the AD steps up and tells them to back off they will continue.

I’ll try to find the quote but paraphrasing CNS has said before coordinators are welcome to add to Alabama’s playbook, but they aren’t bringing in their own entirely. He said it’s easier for the new coach to learn Bama’s terminology than it is to teach half a team of 18-22 year olds an entirely new language.

I know there is a more direct quote but this article contains a bit

“We're going to run our offense do the things that we do. I'm sure that there are some things that they did in Atlanta just like there were some things when Brian Daboll came here that they did in New England that we implemented in the offense and those things were very helpful. We'll do the same thing. If Sark's got things that he thinks are going to be beneficial and fit in with the things that we're doing then we'll implement some of those things. He's got great knowledge and experience and the biggest thing is he's well organized and he's got good relationships with the players and he's a good teacher.”

Amongst all the other records set, I have to believe we've probably also broken the one for most coordinators hired away by other colleges under a single head coach. It's more than a little ridiculous. Yeah, I know it's a measurement of where we are, but come on.

Honestly I think the best coach at a lower job is Campbell. But what is it going to take for someone to get him out of Ames, Iowa is the question....
