I really hope (contractually speaking) Sark set himself up for success.
I am very appreciative of what Sark has done while at Bama and hope he has a good career where ever he goes unless he ends up at UT(e) or Moo U.

I saw that too. He would go from respected fo disliked really quickly if he started trying to poach assistants for lateral job moves. Take GA’s and give them on the field roles but leave Saban’s built staff alone.
Saban and Belichick both made it very clear in their HBO special that it is frowned upon for this kind of poaching, and they both also said that it is the wrong way to leave a program. This is the best way to permanently burn bridges with Saban.

It's going to happen. Prepare yourself. Not a whole lot that can be done prevent it. It goes like this. "I would encourage you to fulfill your commitment here, if you are available in the future, sure, I would certainly consider possibly adding you to our staff." Assistant coach walks in and resigns his position only to be hired by new HC. It's not poaching if a guy quits without a promise or commitment of future employment.

None of the guys who might get poached will be without such a commitment.

Agree this happens all of the time, especially at Bama. Just see the last 5-10 years. My comments were only acknowledging that when a coach takes assistants he didn’t hire from program that made him relevant again, that’s not cool and he will lose respect.

If he takes assistants with him and they get a promotion out of the deal, I don't have such a big problem with it. But poaching for a lateral move is a different matter.

Coaches worth their salt have ambition. Sark is no different. But gosh, everybody that keeps up with college football knows that UT is a next to impossible situation for a head coach. As you said, the Texas alum/boosters have their hands all over that team and a coach has to spend too much energy addressing these people and trying to appease them. I hope Sark can handle all those distractions. Walking that tightrope is so tough. If he can't, he will be gone in three or four years. UT has destroyed the careers of several good coaches in recent years.
I seem to remember people saying similar things about our program. We were able to find the right coach and were incredibly lucky to find the man who would become the G.O.A.T. If Texas can find the right coach, they can get back in the thick of things. Is Sarkisian that coach? Who knows? But I doubt Texas fans have the same feeling I did when we hired Saban. You could feel big things were about to happen. We just didn't know how big.

You have to understand that they are the most self-absorbed and delusional fan base that there is. They literally believe that they should be winning the title in every sport every year and I’m not exaggerating. They thought Urban Meyer should be honored to coach them and that Saban should have been too. Herman was the HOTTEST name in coaching and they ran him off in no time.
Sort of like Georgia but with a little more justification.

I remember thinking, "At last, a coach who has the clout to lay down the law with boosters and take absolute control of the program." Time will tell if Sark is that man in Austin.

Let's hope Sark has enough respect for the coach who literally saved his career not to do that. But, maybe erase that recruiting board juuuuust in case.

AD’s, presidents, boosters and fans will continue thinking that if they take coach Saban’s assistants, they will become elite and maintain the success he has had. The difference is when an assistant leaves, Saban knows not only knows what he is looking for but how to recruit them to the program. We will have drop offs here and there but the standard and process is and has always been the same.

I do believe the days of an assistant staying 10 plus years are all almost over with. Clemson has done a phenomenal job keeping their staff but once the leak starts, it will spread like wildfire. All that being said having an OC that can teach a QB how to read a defense and adjust during games against elite DC’s is a must.
