I may be way off base, but I don’t see why Herman would want to take an assistant job. He was 32-18 with 4 bowl wins. His tenure would have been considered a success at most other universities that aren’t top tier. (Alabama, Ohio St, etc)

Unless he’s just sick of the process, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t try to rehab his coaching career as an HC somewhere with lower expectations. Boise immediately comes to mind. Not sure what other jobs are open or are expected to open the next few months.
Well, Tennessee got Texas' good Basketball coach. They may FIRE Pruitt and go after Herman.

While I am not an insider I know those who are. Because of what I do for a living I know people who are deeply tied into the OSU program. There is VERY, VERY bad blood between Meyer and Herman. He is a DOUCHE of a person and has burned a LOT of bridges. Someone will hire him out of desperation but the blue blood programs want NOTHING to do with him.

I have heard of this bad blood for a couple of years...not sure he will need to coach again with this buyout. Or, he may use this to do some introspection...

An even more honorable thing to do would be to wait until the season is over to start poaching coaches. I get it on the recruiting aspect but I don't think there's much you can do drastically on the recruiting trail to haul in a decent class once you fire a coach
The best thing to say to current players is "we are going to take a BUSINESS Trip on January 11, 2021 to WIN a National Championship! Now, one of our coaches that we know and LOVE has made a BUSINESS Decision to take Mega Millions $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ from Texas Boosters to be their Coach. You players may have BIG BUSINESS decisions in the FUTURE. Now, Coach Sark has handled this with CLASS. He is staying with us until we win another NC. Let's handle our NC game with BUSINESS Class. You as future Leaders may have a chance to become wealthy just like our Current OC. Now, as a TEAM let's GKBB!!!!!!!"

I wonder how long this has been in the works.
Hmmmmm. Could be since they saw how effective Sark was in a Press Conference as well as those 49.7 PPG prior to last night. And he did serve as Temporary HEAD Coach when Coach Saban was at a COVID-19 Retreat.

It's not going to matter or affect the game prep for this. We fans tend to look at this very differently than those who do this for a living. Nick hired him fully well knowing it was at max a 2 year hire. Sarks is a pro and this wont effect the game prep for the 11th

Coach likely wont ever tire of recruiting and mentoring young men. But one day he will likely wake up and say to himself that he is tired of hiring assistant coaches and support staff. This is probably the most taxing part of his job.

Do you think Sark may want to take Pete Golding with permission granted by Coach Saban?
I have been a Pete Golding critic, maybe when it wasn’t totally his fault. At least he’s been loyal, but it could be because no one is knocking his door down for a better opportunity. i don’t blame Sark for listening to and accepting the HC job at Texas, but I do appreciate loyalty.
