***OFFICIAL*** USM vs BAMA GAME DAY THREAD!!!!(merging threads)

I listened to the post game interview with Shula. He just said he has never been through a game like this one in his entire career. He sounds like he screamed so much his voice is gone. He said he is proud of the team for finding a way to win this one. He also said a couple of years ago they wouldn't have won this won. He was proud of the way Ken Darby ran the ball tonight.

Tyrone Prothro had 278 all purpose yards tonight.

Coach Shula said the win wasn't pretty but it was a good.

I think we have a lot of room to grow, and don't see any limitations. It's not like they aren't going to learn anything between now and the next game. I mean it's not like practice is over for the season. You feel a whole lot better at practice after a win than a loss.
I really don't think that it is a matter of continuing to learn. I just don't see this O-Line showing much improvement this year. We are too thin and too inexperienced, from top to bottom.

Not being pessisimistic, just realistic. I love their effort, and the fact that they were still dishing it out on the last play of the game. I'll let it stay there for now. They deserve praise after a win...

I haven't read through most of this thread, but we need some DRIVE BLOCKING for the running plays and LESS deep balls or else Brodie's gonna see more INTs than TDs.

Well, they have one more game of experience than they had when they started tonight! I see opportunities and talent! :) Roll Tide!

Also, no Jimmy Johns running the ball tonight. I know it was tight, but I would've thought he'd have 2 or 3 touches.

There were some recruits there, but I couldn't put a finger on a couple of them....I'll do further investigation. I hope QB, WR, and OL prospects were watching this game.

Regardless of what we've seen after two games, Bama still has a very strong chance of going 4-0 into the UF game. Despite underwhelming line play, the playmakers are making plays. It appeared that USM brought alot of emotion to this game, generated no doubt from tragic circumstances. And USC probably had an emotional game against UGA as well. Arky may have their rears handed to them next week to go 1-2, so they could go either way.

A national championship season, no. An SEC championship? We can hope for a miracle. But a very respectable 8 win season is still very possible IMHO.

come down on the side that the cheer should be played - over and over. I probably wouldn't feel that way if I weren't reading their boards...

You aren't kidding Earle. I went over there and one Bama fan offered congrats on a hard fought contest and that he hopes they win the rest of their games and he was told to take Bama with him and go straight to .... Almost the entire board seemed to hate Bama with a passion and most of them blamed the loss on the "Alabama" refs. lol One or two of them even thought the player ejected for the punch was not justified. I for one am glad this series is over. Bama definitely doesn't need to play USM.

In a Tidefans poll during the offseason, I voted 6-5. As of now, I haven't changed my mind. But, I very much hope that you are right and I am wrong.

Bedtime for me. ROLL TIDE ROLL!

P.S. Tomorrow is the birthday of the Bear, and of Tom Landry -- and, of course, the anniversary of a very sad day. Much to reflect on tomorrow.

Call me crazy ..

but I don't remember too many wins from the '92 season being pretty. :D

The defense played lights out tonight, sans one drive. This team has the possibility to be very special. If they can get the O-line tightened up a bit as well as the kicking game, we may really experience a great season.

RTR!

Deservedly so.

I dont think this has been posted ( I didnt read all the posts ) but Prothro's catch was #1 on ESPN's highlights.

I'm not trying to wear my crimson shades, however, that is one of the finest catches I have ever seen at any level of football.
