Consistency is the next step - obtain consistency and Alabama will be on the fast track to the Orange Bowl...
Agreed.. as far as I've seen so far this year that is all we need to come out as the #1 team in January. If we get consistant with our play out on the field and play all 4 quarters like we've been playing the first two quarters in every game we'll be unstopable.

Great article. The big difference I see with this team and others in the past, is the dominating play on the OL/DL. Its been a long time since I've seen a Bama team dominate on both sides of the ball. RTR!!!

Steadman Shealy speaks. Good article.
I'm sorry, but has Lee Roy Jordan ever had great things to say about any of our teams? He should be building us up and not saying "well, they're ok so far, but let's wait and see". Someone should tell him that he is not the know all end all for deciding a good football team. He's a player of the past and needs to get over himself. I really don't care what he thinks, and the team doesn't have to prove anything to him. I wish that people would not even ask his opinion, and when they do, I wish he'd keep his mouth shut.

Come on.
Reporters asked Jordan's opinion and he gave it. All he said was that he didn't think Alabama was worth of its #2 ranking yet. He added that he thought the team would be very, very good by the end of the year.

I understand his thinking. On 10/20/07, Alabama was 6-2 and riding high off of a win against TN. Some key suspensions and injuries later and the Bama is 6-6. The offense averaged 12 points a game the last 3 regular season games.

Am I pleased with the way the team is playing? Absolutely!
Am I optimistic about the rest of the season? Absolutely! Right now, Bama would be favored in all of their games except for LSU.

Am I cautious? Yes, old habits are hard to break. Saban appears to have weeded out the problem players and turned around the attitude, but we still have a way to go.

Seasons can turn quickly.

Look at South Carolina and Georgia last year.
Georgia was 4-2 after getting blasted by Tennessee. They turned it around well.
South Carolina started out 6-1. They ended 6-6 and did not go to a bowl.

The University asks Lee Roy his opinion on many issues and he has helped more than hindered our progress.

I may be wrong, but I don't see what Lee Roy said is very much different that what CNS is saying. In effect, they are playing good ball now but we have a lot of football left to play.

Now how do you get he stated anything bad about the Tide in this?

Former Alabama and NFL star Lee Roy Jordan isn’t positive that Alabama is yet worthy of a No. 2 ranking, partly the product of a number of upsets. But, he added, “I think by the end of the year we’ll have a very, very good football team.”

The last time Jordan recalls seeing a Tide team play like this?

“It might have been back in ’92 or somewhere in there,” he said, referring to the program’s last national championship team. “Everybody was really confident and hardworking and believing that they were going to win.”
He's being truthful he's not the only one that thinks that either scan the board.

Do you know why they ask him questions or any "former" player or coach those kind of questions it's because they've been there and done that and have the knowledge of doing it first hand.

Then again what does a guy who played for Coach Bryant on a National Championship team, played in three superbowls know about football anyhow.

He's just saying what more than one Bama fan is thinking.. it's to soon to say we are there yet.

I particularly liked what AC had to say about the team needing to take it one game at a time, continuing to work hard, and that being how they were going to play. Since he's one of the leaders of the team and the anchor of the OL, I know he's preaching this both on and off the field. That will hold more sway with the youngsters than just about anything.

I like the attitude.

I really don't care who he is, I just get tired of hearing him year after year act like our teams are just not good enough, and maybe they haven't been. But quit putting them down, we have enough people to do this.
Maybe this time he wasn't, but I just remember in years past how negative he has been, and today it just set me off, so I did just as he did and stated my opinion about something.

He may have been negative, but in the past 10 or so years, we have had a lot to be negative about.

Two words... Dubose and Shula.
Great Bama guys that should not have been the head coach.
I thank them for the job they tried to do, but they were not ready to be the head coach at Bama.

I read the article a few times and I have to agree with Lee Roy Jordan. We are playing overall good football. However, I have not seen the consistency CNS is looking for and the team is working toward. We are by no means the same team from last year. Neither are we the team we want to be. We are on our way and that is what makes this a fun team to watch.

I will say this, this is the first year in a long time were I look at the schedule and think, "We can beat those guys" instead of, "I hope we have a good game and beat those guys."
