Considering this trend, Smart may not find the support as accommodating as what he's seen Saban receive at Alabama.

I wondered whether the lopsided loss to the Buckeyes was in part due to being distracted by the decision to move--much the same way the loss to auburn was attributed to Fran already packing for A@M.

Gotta say that I feel good about this big vacancy because I don't think any of our coordinators - or any mid-major head coach looking to go to the big time - is going to want this job due to the stinginess of this program.

They got beat that bad because they were one dimensional. They could RUN against weak defenses. However, the run defense of tOSU was it's strength. It was like throwing Gordon to the wolves.
The Badgers were 4 point favorites--something was wrong in Denmark with this game -- and it points to lack of preparation.
Francione did the same thing to Bama before the Iron Bowl in which Alabama was favored over Auburn; the game performance was affected.

Riley wasn't hired by Nebraska until 12/4. Oregon State would not start searching for a replacement until they were sure that Riley was leaving, so probably on 12/2-3 at the earliest. The B1G Championship game was played on 12/6. No way Anderson was engaged sufficiently to distract him from the biggest game of his college coaching career in that window. In fact, I seriously doubt that he even took a call about the job until after the game.

Don't get this move. You leave a program who is at the top of their conference, with an established system and recruiting base to go to a program that needs a lot of work and (I assume) he's going to have to recruit a totally different type of kid than they have to run that power offense.
