did she just give him like one bite or was she feeding him a whole plate. If it was just like her shoving it in his face to make him eat I see nothing wrong w/ that. Maybe she was just messing around.
Nice catch littlewing. I was about to go off on that whoir plate/shoving it in his face thing. I probably would have been banned.:)

I watch the video clip first. Then I went and read the article. Then I re-watch the clip. I find the coach’s behavior terrible. Does he actually wish for the Jenni Carlson's future child to be treated in such a way? I for one found his speech troubling and petty. While at first it seemed he was standing up for one of his players, I wonder if he was really just grandstanding and in the process making an ... of himself and embarrassing his school. He acted like a spoiled child. I am glad he is not our coach.

O, I'll eat it. But I can promise you she won't be feeding it to me. She taught me to do that for myself before I was 2.
Maybe he didnt want to get any grease on his fingers-- that could make him fumble a snap--- did you ever think of that??

Did you?

I dont see anything wrong with it--- unless of course the chicken was finger licking good and he licked his momma's fingers afterward

My opinion is Mike Gundy acted totally unprofessional himself. How can he sit there and call somebody out like that and assume this person doesn't have a child?
What if he/she had three or four kids? How does he know? And he's acting like a hippocrite by getting onto this writer, who he doesn't even know (I'm assuming he doesn't know them, or I figure he'd handle it behind close doors and professionally.)
My opinion is he is just as culpable, if not more so, for acting the way he did. Obviously, he didn't set a very good example for his "players" (not children) and his own kids, along with the thousands of OSU fans who undoubtedly have small children of their own.
It seems pretty petty for everyone to jump to the conclusion that the writer made the story completely up......Maybe I'm alone on this one....

When a "journalist" uses words/phrases such as "if you believe the rumors", "word is", and "apparently" to support a "news story", I'm not going to give it much, if any, credence. If you have the facts, then state them. If not, write an opinion column. Sorry if that makes me petty.

*stands and applauds Mike Gundy*
Me too! Mike Gundy only did what 90% of us would do if we had the forum or audience to be able to do it. We respond in emails and get ripped and our emails edited to make us look stupid. I relished every second of his rant and there was nothing the reporter could do to twist his words or make him look stupid because they were both there with multiple witnesses and now its on youtube and ESPN. Kudos to Mike Gundy for standing up to the monster rather than feeding it. And so far I have to give kudos to the school and the AD for not trying to water it down, apologize for his words, or sugarcoat it. And as far as anyone knows they haven't even privately admonished him. In an interview today they apparently asked if he wished he hadn't said so much and he told them that he wished he had said more. I think I'll adopt Ok St as my new favorite BigXII team. There are a precious few Cecil Hurts around the country and so many more like the 'garbage' that wrote the garbage article in that newspaper. I think if they were called out publicly and humiliated like this one was it might make others think twice when confronted with the option of slandering a player this way. I know as a fanbase we think we have problems with the local media, and in a way we do, but as long as they aren't stooping to the level of attacking college athletes' character I would consider us lucky. Sorry guys.

Well,no offense, but I hope you are alone on this one. Reporters that stoop to this level don't deserve the courtesy of a closed doors meeting, IMHO. I'm sure its been tried several times before and this crap is still out there. These reporters writing garbage to sell papers need to be called out. Maybe it will make them think twice before writing something like this. And if it doesn't at least the noise making will alert even those living under a rock to who are the decent reputable reporters and who are the slime. This stuff has been going to long and it just continues getting worse. Maybe its time for the 'fight fire with fire' strategy. You can hate Finebaum and rant and rave about him all you want but to my knowledge he has never stooped to this level. He may constantly take shots at UA and AU but he keeps it clean and directed at the adults in charge, not the kids giving their all and trying to do their best.

This is why I don't read the Oklahoman, because most of what's printed in it is, like Gundy said, garbage.

I might be wrong, but from everything I've read, it was a column.

Mabe I'm missing something but the article is really, really, tame to me. Living here in Norman, I can confirm that the OSU coaches have spent all summer talking up the offense and Reid. Local sports radio guys (The Animal) have called the Big XII "embarassing" and OSU's lack of production after all that hype has certainly contributed to that kind of opinion. The OSU staff was even referring to the offense as one of the best in the country during August. Add to that the millions upon millions of $ that they just dumped into the facilities and I think it's easy to see that the staff there is under enormous pressure this year to 'turn the corner' and really start to compete in the Big XII.

Just for the record, Jenni Carlson is no Paul Finebaum. She is a columnist, not a reporter, and I read her often and have never found anything that I would term controversial in the past. Shes not a shock-jock wannabe.

As for the article itself, what exactly did she say that was so bad? That Reid considered transferring? I'd bet you a 100$ that that is true. That his mom fed him chicken? Well, she did. That he lacks heart/fire? Well, he's sitting on the bench right now and not because of injury and not because the #2 is outplaying him by leaps and bounds. Gundy says Reid is a kid that "does everything right". So whats the problem? No one is asking that question anymore because they're all talking about mommas and whether or not its OK to say that someone gets fed by their momma.

Oh yeah, and lets not forget who took the article to Gundy in the first place. Reids momma.

And for all of you who are cheering Gundy now, where were you when it was Mitch Mustains mom in the headlines? She's a mom. Didn't she have a right to defend her baby, too? Guess its OK to bash moms and sons when you don't agree with what they're doing but not OK in other cases. Typical sheep hypocrisy if you ask me.

Imo, this will be damaging for OSU. They look like a program out of sorts with a coach throwing a hissy fit over his mommas boy QB who he benched with no real explanation as to why.

OSU is just AU in another state and I doubt any of you would be showing the same support for Gundy if it was Tubbs and an AU player in this exact same spot.

Try using the search function - not everyone crucified MM and his family...

Edit - and *WOW* - the world is very black and white to you. Pretty sad that you saw nothing wrong with her article, then proceed to presume it's 'ok' as they are 'Oklahoma's barn'...

If you didn't crucify MM then the statement didn't apply to you. But many here did and that is who that comment was directed at. Pretty simple.

I didn't say it was 'OK' because OSU is the little sister school of the state (which they are), I simply said that I doubted many people would be as sympathetic if it was AU in this situation. Just as I doubt AU would be sympathetic if it was us in this situation. It may be black & white but it's also true.

And I have still yet to see anything that was so scandalous about what she wrote. I think wishbonesooner hit the nail on the head. This is nothing more than grandstanding from Gundy to deflect attention away from OSU's start to their season.

If there is a blatant lie or uncalled for attack in the article, please quote it.
