One TD ??? against the vaunted Arky defense?? my how generous.

Bama 27- Arky 13
You didn't catch the obvious attempt at humor in my point prediction???

We have actually looked pretty good against the run. Most of the ground yardage against us have been the QBs running. I don't think you guys will run all over us like years past. Now, if your can get your passing game fired up and improve your pass blocking then we could be in serious trouble. I am not justifying the 1 TD thing since I was pretty obviously joking...but still.

I guess I'm in the minority--I think Arkansas is overrated, and I've thought that only since they lost the sugar bowl to Ohio State WITH Ryan Mallett. I predict the game will stay close for 3 qtrs, but we wear them down in the 4th with Trent/Eddie--even so, the score stays respectable....

Can Arkansas win this game? Sure. Will they win? No. Why? We have an NFL defense that is going to win us a lot of football games this year. Although I expect it to be a tough game the only way I see Alabama losing is if we have a lot of turnovers.

Alabama- 30
Arkansas- 17

Definitely an interesting game as neither team knows 100% what to expect from the other team. Neither team really knows what exactly the strengths and weaknesses of their own team are going to be either. Hog-colored glasses tell me that we win, but either way, I don't see either team winning by more than 10.

Really? I know what to expect from Bama's Defense. If the Hogs get 24 it is because the AL's offense screwed up. The Hogs had their chance last year to beat Bama and a very shaky and inexperienced D with a really experienced offense. Instead, they threw up all over themselves. Unless the Hogs have miraculously created a real stellar, top-tier SEC defense then I would be worried if I supported the Bacons. Bama's big concern last year was the defense (secondary especially). This year it is the OL and the QB. i'll take a Saban defense any day in that scenario. We can hide a QB and still win. The question is can Ark. hide its defense for 60 minutes?

27-10 Bama. Bacon U aint ready for the big time quite yet. Arkansas will score a field goal early on the first drive due to well scripted plays by bobby. They will score a touchdown on a drive with a really big play. However the combination of our great secondary play with arky's complete inability to establish a run game will hurt them. Wilson has never faced a defense in the same stratosphere as ours and the lack of a running game to help him is just too much, poor kid. We have two solid drives that result in touchdowns, and one big 40 yard plus run by Lacy who will be player of the game. We have two other drives but are unable to finish and thus settle for field goals. Still need to work on our run blocking and red zone execution.

Yes, really.

I wasn't coming on the board screaming in every thread about how Arkansas was going to dominate, but that's sort of what you made it seem like. I mean, I'm fairly skepticaly about our defense too, and it will be interesting to see how they play against their first real test, but it isn't like we pulled our good defense out of thin air? Many have said that our D-line is one of the tops in the conference and the Linebacking core isn't far behind. Granted, yes, our secondary could still use some work, especially after what happened last week, but we aren't just making this up? ESPN and others have all lauded our defense this season.

With our defensive line being one of our strong points, the matchup against Alabama's O-line will be critical if the Hogs want to win this one. McCarron being rather inexperienced obviously bodes well for us, but Wilson is fairly inexperienced for Arkansas so that is most likely a push. In their respective roles, they both will do fine. Finally getting all of our wide receivers back in the same game will definitely help our chances as well.

So, in my opinion, this game probably comes down to the Alabama O-line vs. the Arkansas D-line, and not the Alabama D vs. the Arkansas O. Here's to a great game Saturday!

Pressure on Wilson will not be a problem, if you recall in 09 Saban dialed up so many different blitzes that he had Mallett paranoid that the guy selling popcorn was about to hit him.
this has to be the funniest line I have read on TF in a very long time!! thank you for making laugh so freaking hard :)

Wilson has never had the pressure of starting the game (and oh yes there is a difference) in front of 101,821 maniacal fans looking to see their teams first test. Couple that with the pressure of pre snap reads against the guy even nfl coaches say gives the most deceptive looks and the recipe is not promising for Wilson
.

this is Arkansas first away game and it happens to be at Alabama!! not a good way to start SEC play.

Our pass blocking has improved vastly over last year and so has our receiver coaching - they're getting a lot more separation. Our run blocking is what most have been complaining about. I look for us to come out throwing because I think you, like most teams, will have eight in the box...

If we connect in our blitzes, I'd call Arky's total to be a score or more lower than that.

I never said you did. It is amazing how viscerally people react to words sometimes. We welcome all visitor fans and enjoy a spirited debate. We expect you to be homers just like many of us are. There is a large segment of us though that do look at the game objectively and yes even point out problem areas in our beloved team. All I was reacting to was the comment that we didn't know what to expect from the teams. We know what to expect from Bama's defense. Is that to say something other than what we expect can't happen? Certainly not. I do, respectfully, disagree with your analysis. Any team that hopes to beat Arkansas is going to have to stop ya'lls offense period because most teams can match your team score for score. No hard feelings and here's to a good clean game.
