This is correct. A clause in his original contract calls for his personal guarantee of contracts for assistant coaches. I suspect the negotiation is to get TUF to pay those contracts but they want to take it off his guarantee.
What's the difference?

Not sure if this belongs here, but look for A&M to steal Auburns TE coach in the next couple of days/weeks.
Sounds about right. Gus is probably going to put together the first all high school coaching staff since he and Linsday come from that background and Gus feels more comfortable with like-minded people. I giggle in their general direction.

I was at the hospital across the street from my office checking on a patient and a nurse I know asked me to look at his computer...it was tracking a plane that gone from Montgomery to Norman OK...he asked me if I thought that meant that Bob Stoops was about to be brought in. I told him I had no idea, but his giddiness was such that I could have told him anything and it wouldn't have mattered. So I told him that, yeah, that's probably what it meant, so just keep watching & listening for an announcement. He was convinced that Big Game Bob was Auburn-bound...I didn't want to be a kill-joy, so I let him just live in the moment.:biggrin2:
Hahaha. BGB lives in Chicago now...

:rolleye2: For the second time, I knew that, but the discussion upthread was about coaches coaching at Bama and going to the Barn. Dye is probably the most "famous case" because Coach Bryant saw him as an heir apparent at Bama.
Actually I was referring to coaches that had played at Alabama, like Bill Oliver. But no worries; I'm not the best at getting my point across sometimes.

FYI, Joab Thomas didn't make a unilateral decision...a member of the committee interviewing candidates said that he blew them away. He always could talk...

Also, I will not reveal who but a former Auburn coach under TB was a good friend...I once said to him, "You all were not supposed to win at AU were you? You were to be the sacrificial lambs...and when you won they didn't know what to do with you." He replied, "Exactly.'
The Bowden family could write an interesting book

Auburn made the best decision last year to lock Gus up long-term. They don't need to think short-term and let him go... Please, NO!!!

Looks like the Gus Bus has its brake lines cut but the driver figured out how to gear it down to get down the mountain.

This shows me how perfect Gus is for the Auburn fan base. Gus is so myopic, so delusional that he is willing to accept being “neutered” by the very same people a year ago that gave him this ridiculous contract all because he believes “he’ll turn it around next year”. And that 2019 schedule that includes trips to TAMU, LSU, and Florida and an opening game in Dallas versus Oregon. Not to mention Alabama and Georgia on that schedule as well.

And this delusional fan base believes that any coach in America would come running to the “Delusional Little Village on the Plains” after watching the Auburn version of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that has played out among the PTB down there.

God this really is a marriage made in Heaven.

And it is glorious....
