Not to be too cynical (look at my other posts - I'm not that cynical a guy) but why would Marve want to come to UA? He wants to be a QB. We have JPW starting for his redshirt and freshman years, then McElroy starting during Marve's Sophomore and Junior years, meaning he sees action for only one year or, at best, has to compete against McElroy for two years.

Not to mention his relationship was with CMS.

I don't see how we're going to get a top QB like Marve to come to UA in this class. Kids today that are of that caliber expect to play in their redshirt Sophomore years.
So are you saying he'll only go to a school that doesn't have any QB's on its roster? If he's a football player then he won't mind a little competition. Also I don't think McElroy has the 2009 starting QB spot sewn up just yet.

Its also interesting that the main UA jet (N1UA) was in Columbia, SC for 5 hours today.

Again, with school out, recruiting closed and no teams playing anywhere nearby, it's odd to me for both jets to be so active today.

Oh dear. Please don't have people start the Spurrier rumors again.
And another rediculous post on another bama board swears that Bob Stoops has signed to come to Bama. :rolleye2:

Sorry to awaken an old thread like this, but maybe there is some truth to the Nutt rumors.

Looks like N75TP made two flights into Fayetteville today - may have been ferrying someone from there to a meeting in Chattanooga??

Anyone have an idea what this could be? I looked and we don't have any teams playing in either place tonight.
Nutt just signed an extension through 2012. I seriously doubt the guy would have done that if he were entertaining any thoughts of leaving for any other school.

Spurrier did state he would help Mal find a coach. He may have some ties to whoever MM has in mind and may be a contact or maybe somebody wanted to go challenge SOS in a friendly round of holiday golf.

His contract already read through 2011. This was a typical one year rollover. Usually the only time a coach doesn't get one of those is when he is about to be fired. The buyout remains fairly low, if I'm not mistaken.

I would personally throw in the change in my pockets, a 1974 Ford Maverick, a "Rudy" DVD, and a dogeared copy of The Forward Pass is Just a Fad by Houston Nutt if you'll just take this fine, Christian man off our hands.

Funny... I've heard the same kind of sentiments from Clemson fans. Seems like they'd pass the hat too to pony up the buyout amount.

I remember being in and around Arkansas when H. Nutt was hired. Hog fans just wanted to get better and feel that they had a chance to be competitive week in and week out. H. Nutt got them to that point.

However, H. Nutt isn't a championship coach. He gets a team to play better, but not to being the best.

Good one, Firehog!

I'll trade you a copy of Offensive Line Coaching for Dummies by B. Connelly for a copy of your book :)

Merry Christmas!
