People say Kiffin wants the Bama job, but then others say he will never get it because of what happened while he was at Bama behind the scenes. If he has been told he will never get the Bama job, then I can see him going to Auburn (even if for a few years and to get $$$$). If he has been forgiven by Saban and the people in charge of making hiring decisions, then he may have a chance to get the Bama job later on. If he knows this, then he probably won't go to Auburn.

I said back in Late Sept/Early Oct that they would have to make Kiffin say 'No' so I'm not surprised that they are aggressively pursuing him.

But I will be surprised if he says 'Yes'.

It just would make no sense.

He could probably use this to get another pay bump from Ole Miss but why would he go to AU?

I mean it would feel like a lateral move other than maybe the money but it would put him in direct competition with CNS and Alabama and Alabama is 1 of only 3 jobs he is rumored to covet (AU is not 1 of the 3)

I just can't see him killing his chances to succeed CNS like that no matter the $$ AU is offering.

Just curious. What are the other two jobs?

Auburn has been a dumpster fire for years.

They won a natl championship(I didn't say "natty" ), and fired Chizik a little more than a year later.

Malzahn almost got them another ring and they ran him off.

It would be a dream job for any coach that just wants to retire on an insanely high buyout.

If Freeze wants back in the big leagues this is his moment, but they have chewed up their last four coaches, and not in the normal way. The PTB down there are like dealing with a pit of vipers after they were slapped around. I don't know why Freeze will be different than the others. He will have to deal with Bama, UGA, Ole Miss if Kiffin is there, A&M with a real coach could be scary, and LSU with a competent coach every year. They expect you to be on UGA and Bama's level year in and year out. That's tough. Malzahn was as competitive with CNS as anyone in the sport and he still got canned.

I don't know if LK will take the Barn job or not, and I don't know if he would ever be a consideration to follow CNS. What I do believe is that IF he goes to Auburn, any prayer he had of following CNS will be out the window. No way Bama takes a HC from Auburn, current or former. So if he does want a chance at all to follow CNS, he should stay put.

Why does that matter so much?(I know you're not the only one saying this) Don't you want the absolute best coach for the program?

Yes, I understand that it's Auburn, but why hurt Bama's chances by NOT hiring the best possible HC? Wouldn't it be BETTER to take away Auburn's HC?
